GCN SWISS DVD-R Backups Issues (Original discs, and SD2SP2 work)

Hey, here is my gamecube setup:

Launch GC with Digital AV port
Action Replay disc and microsd memory adapter to boot latest SWISS
Games are on a 128GB microsd in SD2SP2

this all works but when I try and play a burned mini dvd-r the farthest I've gotten is getting the game to boot and then being presented with a disc read error. I've only tried Metroid Prime so far as that game stutters alot on SD2SP2.

Please help, it should also be noted the burned Metroid Prime will only boot 25% of the time and throws a disc read error anytime it does boot

A few options is

Adgust laser (will shorten life of laser)
Or
Buy G04 Mini's

Darn, I already spent like $40CAD on 20 of these PHILIPS mini DVD-Rs. So far 3 Metroid Prime 1 discs have burned successfully but won't play properly in the GC. I have verified the iso with Wiped GCM Fixer and it says it is good. Is it possible a different game or different write speed or different version of SWISS would work? What about GCOS?
