Hey guys, apologize if this has already been asked/answered but I couldn't find a thread relevant to my question. I installed atmosphere on one switch and it works great. When I go to serial information on settings it shows as XAW000000000000. I went through the same exact process on another switch, although this one was on 10.0.2, it seems to have worked as well but if I go to serial information on this one it shows the actual serial number still. Any ideas why that would be? Thank you in advance.

Edit: think I just answered my own question, I realized I actually put neutos on the 1st switch and atmosphere on the other. I believe this is the reason, is there anyway to mask SN on atmosphere?

SN is on a sticker on the switch.

I know it normally is, but I had a feeling neutos using the XAW000000000000 is a way to try and prevent identification of this system by Nintendo. I use the DNS settings to block Nintendo stuff, but does having a spoofed SN like that help at all?

is there anyway to mask SN on atmosphere?

If you're on latest atmosphere create a file on the root of your sdcard named 'exosphere.ini'

Now if you're running on EmuMMC you should add this line in your exosphere.ini:

blank_prodinfo_emummc=1

But if you're running atmosphere on SysMMC and want that to be masked, you should add this line instead:

blank_prodinfo_sysmmc=1

Now this is more what I was getting at. Do you know if this is similar or exactly to what neutos does? and is it useful at all for blocking identification by Nintendo? I guess to simplify my question, is it bad to have my serial number still identifiable in the system when I'm bootedto CFW. Thanks for the reply.

There is a lack of study whether blanking or masking prodinfo can prevent bans but at the moment nobody has ever reported any bans using it. It's not exactly the same how neutos does it but the result are similar. Your system is safe (from bans) even when prodinfo isn't blanked/masked as long as you're not doing any sketchy stuff (i.e piracy).

Awesome, thanks for your answers annson. Mods can lock this thread if that's something they do.

Neutos bundles exosphere.ini as part of the distro with the blank flag set blank_prodinfo_emummc=1
Atmosphere I assume creates an exosphere.ini if it doesnt exist and does not set the blanking.
That's why you didn't have thus problem on the 1st switch/

Just want to say thank you for the thread. I'd been looking for this answer for a couple days and found it. Cheers!
