I am Italian and I am using the translator, so forgive my English, A few days ago I put the wii64 emulator to play the super mario 64 game on my Wii, the game started and it worked, but after when I turned off the Wii, the sd card became unreadable on both the Wii and the PC, I was forced to format it and insert the files again. Why did it happen? How can I avoid it?
Hello,

sometimes it happens because there is corruption on the SD card.

what you can do ==> make a backup (all the content) of your SD card on your computer or elsewhere. so that you will not lose it

Instead of using wii64, why don't you inject the roms in a virtual console wad?
You do realize that is far more likely to brick his Wii, right? A malformed WAD was the leading cause of premature deaths among Wiis when homebrewing first started.

Nowdays we got tools like bootmii and preloader so I don't see the problem

Super Mario 64 is available on Virtual Console, better to install VC when possible as it runs better.
As for your question, you probably turned off while it was in the middle of writing data. Best exit to the Wii Menu before turning the console off.
