I haven't seen anything confirming or denying it. I used to think since you needed to wbfs format the usb to put games in, you couldn't put homebrews and other apps in it. But now I know I can just have a wbfs folder for the games. So could I also put wads and such in my usb and have them be recognized by the homebrew channel?

The reason I'm asking is because the homebrew browser is crashing constantly and not downloading things. And I'm without a sd card reader at the moment.

Hello.:)

Welcome to the Wii Section.

You can make the "app" folder also on your USB Device (formatted with FAT32 otherwise it can not be read) and load them from your HDD/Stick or whatever.
You only have to confirm the "Swap" on the Homebrew Channel by pressing "1" on your Wii Motion Controller and choose the USB Device as Source.:)

Please Note: Some Applications do not SAVE on the USB Device (like the sysCheck Tool for Example).

Thank you.:)

Thank you! I knew there had to be something.
One more question - how do I install games that are .wad files, such as Doc Louis' Punch-Out?

For installing .wad Files you can use WAD Manager/Applications like

WiiMod Lite
or
MultiModManager
or
YAWMM
(German Page, english Version is downloadable under "An english modification can be downloaded here! Supports Wii and vWii.").

Thank you.:)

You do not need to WBFS format since too many years ago. That is totally obsolete.

Of course. That is what the options menu in the HBC does. If you had tried to do it at least one time, you would have figured it out, it will auto detect it if no SD is present.

USB loading from many emulators is kinda unstable sometimes, keep that in mind.

So what you're saying is, I can toggle between homebrews in the sd and homebrews in the usb drive, yes?
