i attempted something similar to that in Darksider Genesis, i was using registers, but because the registers are always zeroed, it never worked...

so that means that if (main+038D36A0) only shows a pointer in battle, but out of battle its a 0. then youre checking if the pointer base is not 0, run the cheats.
