Hi I'm new here but I've known about GBAtemp for a couple years now & found it interesting but the thing is I'm trying to install an emunand to my SD card in order to get past the 512 MB NAND limit on the Wii.

I want to use neek instead of cIOS emunand since I have N64 games & want 100% compatibility so I can put all my VC/Wiiware games on the SD card's emunand & use USB Loader GX to use the emunand if I understand correctly. The problem I'm having is learning how to install (s?)neek because all the guides I've seen seem either outdated or are hard to follow as well as using tools such as ShowMiiWads/NUSDownloader/Sneek/ModMii/etc. which seem to be Windows only (I'm on Linux, Fedora 31 to be exact) so I mean I've tried following the Sneek guide at the Complete Softmod Guide Google Site but when I get to the part of Getting a NAND dump for both the ModMii & ShowMiiWads method they all require Windows. I already have a BootMii nand.bin dump with its associated keys.bin but don't know how to extract on linux...

Like is there another way of creating an emunand on an SD card like with sneek or another app?

I've followed somewhat @Cyan 's guides but am still stuck & confused (plus like I've said I'm on linux). Are there any other guides/tutorials for my needs of installing neek emunand using linux not windows apps?

Am I correct in my understanding of all this?

Thank You for any help. I greatly appreciate it.

most windows tools work perfectly in wine except for modmii. modmii needs a vm because dotnet35 doesn't install in wine at all.

check out this SD card compatibility list for bootmii in a folder. only certain cards work well with it

https://wiibrew.org/wiki/BootMii/SD_Card_Compatibility_List

if you don't have a card that works well with bootmii try out the channel wad here
any wad there that has NK2O in it should work as it has bootmii built in to the wad

https://code.google.com/archive/p/custom-di/

also make sure you only have one partition and make sure it's fat32. I don't know much about how cluster sizes work on linux but make sure it's 32k clusters <--- maybe last priority if all else fails.

Thanks but I already found out how I already wanted to do which was be able to use Ocarina cheats with USB Loader GX with installed wads from the sd card. Thought I had to install an emunand since USB Loader GX can read installed channels from an SD card AFAIK but from the system menu directly yes but apparently it seem al I have to do is load the VC/Wiiware game on the SD card, exit, & then go to USB Loader GX & it seem to show up I believe because it's temporarily loaded to the NAND thus allowing me to boot the VC/Wiiware/channel from USBLGX & use cheats in the game, Thanks for your response though I might look into it...

This is how I got it actually booting with a neek2o setup to the system menu. It also works if you launch it with postloader as direct mode, not bootmii mode but don't press the switch uneek nand button if you have a neek2o setup. it backs it up and converts it into a neek nand on the device's root.

Yeah I may have to look that (neek2o, postloader, uneek) up more. I'm still kind of new to the wii hacking scene especially after all those years when I first hacked my wii :P. My theory as to how it worked for me is that when you start a channel/VC/Wiiware from the SD card it has to load it & then it starts which I assume temporarily loads it into (NAND?) memory so you can then use it as if it's on the system menu when you exit it out & open USB Loader GX you can open it from there. Thank you for your help though!
