The codes need to be gameshark-codes.
Also you're using a * instead of a #

you could enter the codes in-game and then look at the file that gets created.

Don't know if you solved it, but I had the same problem. Turns out you need the 1.0 version of FR. The 1.1 doesn't work.

If you did get it to work: are you able to use cheats? I just can't get them to work.

I got it to work about a week ago but no I can’t get cheats to work and can’t find anyone that wants to use cheats on it so I just downloaded Pkhex for the PC and uploaded my sav to change Pokémon and some stats but if you find cheats let me know!

I finished all of Pokémon FireRed with this emu. ZR for fast forward was a great idea. Thaksis, gr8* emu

Um i cant tell from the conversation but is this end-user friendly and do you think golden sun would run slow since it was a heavy game for gba?

mgba is better in almost any way(accuracy of emulation, features, ...), though if you want cheats you have to use the libretro version. I wouldn't recommend vba next anyone anymore.
Sadly I can't apply any kinds of gameshark codes in libretro version, even codebreaker failed for some of them.

This version is still the best for me. Works well with no framerate hiccups.

Any chance of this being updated to run with button support on latest atmosphere? Would use mgba but the rtc for a rom hack dont work on there but has always worked on vba next
