I was enjoying this emulator to play MAME and NeoGeo.
But suddenly my WiiU gamepad and Classic contoroller doesn't do anything in Retroarch's menu.
How can I fix this problem?
Sorry for bad language

I too am having very similar issue. I got switched over to a pro controller in input1 Now no matter what I do I can not regain control with the Wii U Gampad. When I try to switch input1 back to Wii U Gamepad is shows that choice selected, but the Gamepad has no control of the RetroArch Menu. And by switching the Pro Controller instantly no longer has control either. So I am left with no control of the interface! Am forced to hold down the power button to kill the Console. I am using the latest 1.8.2 ver. How do I get Retroarch back to using the Wii U GamePad?

[/ QUOTE]

delete the settings file from the backspace part of the root of microsd

what is "the backspace part" ? also I spent yesterday troubleshooting this back and forth from PC to WiiU and what fixed it was removing a file that had been created in the wiiu folder called WiiU Gamepad.cfg… Why Retroarch decided to stash that cfg file in the wiiu folder and not in one of the Retroarch folders is beyond me. My concern now is if I again try to use a Pro controller with RA emulators will this occur again.

SD:/retroarch

There's a file in there called retroarch.cfg.

Delete that. Reload retroarch.

In the input menu set users to 16. Select all users control menu. Set gamepad to input 16.

Then select Wii U control as input 1.

And then don't forget that retroarch Wii U is buggy as hell and cross your fingers.

yeah I think we all have been there and it sucks. It seems it has not been fixed yet. I mean, it's not a bug or anything but rather a lack of a feature, a fundamental one for the user experience.

I'm using RA 1.8.2 Wii U and once I figured out the nuances of setting the controllers the way I wanted them I find RA to be quite reliable. Even got a mame version of the original crazy climber from 1980 working on a wifi pro controller! or the Gamepad.
I've been scaling that building like a ninja!

O btw. I had to remove WiiU Gamepad.cfg form the wiiu folder on the SD card and every things works.
Not sure when that file was created.
