I'm having trouble getting homebrew menu to launch from album. I can launch it from games, but I'm trying to get it to launch while I already have a game running so I can use cheats through EdiZon, and every time I try, it just opens the album. I have double and triple checked that I have the latest hbmenu.nro and hbl.nsp in their correct places on the SD. Any ideas?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Can a release Switch but updated to latest FW be hacked for homebrew? Or does hacking require specific firmware?
Double check the serial number just to be sure, but if it's a launch switch, you should be good to go no matter what firmware you're on.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Never mind, I figured it out. For anybody wondering, I was holding down R to launch homebrew channel, but apparently as of atmosphere 0.10.0, you don't need to hold R to launch from album.

Guys, at the moment I don't have the possibility to buy sx os, so I was looking to install atmosphere for the moment. I would like to know, if I install atmosphere is possible to change the cfw with another one? Like sx os?

Another question: is possible to use a paper clip to cfw my switch? Would I do some kind of damage if not done well?

Either edit the hekate_ipl.ini file and set "autonogc=0" or boot in hekate and disable autonogc in the GUI.

No, the compatibility fix hasn't been removed yet. It will be removed in the next release. Because 9.0.1 is stable for every homebrew. I am myself on 9.0.1 and everything just works prefect. Update with ChoiDujourNX. You get the firmware files from google, not allowed to link them here.

Soooo I updated and did everything and my switch is not bricked, but I get an error while the switch logo is up. Any idea? Afaik, I don't have a custom theme or something that might cause this (this seems to be a problem for some). What can I reinstall to prevent this?

Edit: Fixed it, had to delete Emuiibo :)

Not sure if this is a noob question or not...

My hacked Switch doesn't seem to be properly hacked I guess? I'm sure I've done everything right though.

-> I can't dump my keys, everytime I try using hekate I get "Can't find the keys" error message.
-> Only the latest Atmosphère (0.10.1) works. Everything else doesn't. I've reformated my SD card several times, started from scratch, no-thing except this one.
-> I can't use Goldtree/Goldleaf EXCEPT for updates. That's the one driving me nuts to be honest. Everytime I try to install a game, I get this error:

"Error: 2145-0001 (0x291)
Module: ETicket (145)
Description: Unknown or undocumented error (1)"

To reiterate: I can and have installed game updates BUT I can't install the games.

Any help please?
Try using Awoo-Installer instead. "Bugleaf" is not very reliable.

You do not install CFW to the console. CFW is just a bunch of files on your SD card so you can simply change the files to boot a different CFW. And yes it is possible to use a paperclip to boot into RCM if that is what you meant. I used a paperclip myself. Prolonged usage however may result in damage so I advise enabling AutoRCM as soon as possible to avoid any potential damage.

Has this been asked? What's the difference between the two jigs?

Should I use one over another depending on which year my switch came out. Using the Splatoon switch,

Hi guys,

I am using https://pubdev.switch.homebrew.guide/hacking/emummc as a guide to set up emuMMC.
I have flashed my switch back to my ofw which i bought it with and that is if i remember correctly FW 3.2 and (confirmed) fuse count 4.

My question is about the options I have.

The guide states that basicalliy if you use fusee -> use sysnand as ofw for online and emummc as cfw for other activities.
If you use pegascape -> sysnand as entry point and two emummc for either online or homebrew.

my question is: If i use fusee to me this means i will have to update to the latest firmware officially with burning fuses to play online.
for pegascape i´d have to update to 4.0.1, which would burn a fuse or two but would burn less than the other option.
are my assumptions correct? would pegascape be the less invasive option and by that the preferable in my case?

Thank you for the answer!

BR

EDIT: what i still dont get is that if you use fusee to me you should have autoRCM enabled. this is something (i read) that nintendo can detect. so...to me this seems unsafe, right?

Getting errors: Pkg2 decryption failed!
Is sept updated?
Failed to launch HOS

SysNAND 7.0.1
EmuNAND 9.1.0
Atmosphere 0.10.1

I updated my Switch's emuNAND today with ChoiDujourNX, not sure if that was the proper thing to do, but I admit I am a bit overwhelmed with all of the reading and research. I can still boot to OFW and launch Hetake v5.11 via Tegra RCM, but have lost access to CFW (Atmosphere). I think my issue is that I previously updated in CFW to 9.0.1 not Choi. I get a black screen if I go to payloads and try fusee-gelee

I have made a backup of my micro SD card and I am getting ready to format and start from scratch. I have a backup of my NAND as well at 7.0.1.

Main question is will I brick my Switch if I boot to OFW (SysNAND) and update from 7.0.1 to the current 9.1.0? I am not really concerned with fuses since there are games I want to play online. Also is there a chance to get banned since I have already updated to 9.0.1 from 7.0.1 and will be updating again from 7.0.1?

I'm exactly on the same boat, how did you manage to make your cfw work again???

What two jigs? All jigs are designed to boot the console into RCM.

The guide is making assumptions that I do not like. For one, it assumes anyone using PegaScape has a patched Switch even though there are some others who prefer PegaScape over Fusee Gelee. Secondly, and this is the stupider part, it implies sysMMC is safer to use online than emuMMC even though it suggests to use emuMMC for online play when using PegaScape.

The real way the guide should be worded is that if you have an unpatched console, you can use either emuMMC or sysMMC for online play while using the other for CFW & homebrew. But if you have a patched console, you can only use emuMMC for online play as you cannot update sysMMC to the latest firmware otherwise you lose the ability to load CFW. And you do not have to burn fuses to be on the latest firmware and play online depending if use emuMMC to go online (since emuMMC theoretically does not burn fuses) or if you update without burning fuses on sysMMC. Lastly while AutoRCM is theoretically detectable, no one thus far has been banned just for using AutoRCM. You are also not forced to use AutoRCM although you do need it to prevent fuses from being burnt.

I'm just wondering if there is a way to cold boot into emuNAND with a clean(ish) sysNAND without a second device?

My switch is on 2.0.0 and I took several NAND backups 6+ months ago and haven't really touched it or kept up to date since then. I've been waiting for a custom boot0/boot1 so that I don't have to inject the payload every time I turn my Switch on.

I've searched on my own and I've been unable to find anything. either because It's not possible yet or because I'm not looking for the right thing.

Thanks!

No, but you can install autoRCM and a mod chip which will inject the payload at boot.

Gambia, The
emuMMC can be on whatever firmware you want it to be on so long as CFW supports that firmware although your retail cartridges may or may not work depending on the number of gamecart fuses you have burnt. And you can update emuMMC either normally or with ChoiDujourNX.

Thank you for the quick answer! It missed my original problem, but i managed to push through anyway. I took everything i gathered from the various guides and figured i'll just update my sysnand to 9.1 since my Switch is fully hackable via rcm, then stitched together athmosphere 0.10.01 with my previous setup that i got from sdsetup as a guideline, backed up keys and emmc again, created a 9.1 emunand from my sysnand and thats about it.

I do understand that with my fuses now burned for 9.1 there is no way of downgrading, but i failed to find any reason for doing that in the first place since the basic stuff (installing and using both homebrew and nsps that i plan to get from my real cartridges) seems to work flawlessly for now. I'm sure there is some super fancy stuff that i won't be able to do anymore since there must be a reason people update their sysnand without burning fuses.

I won't bother with the internet connection stuff as i find that too sketchy to setup and am perfectly fine with setting everything up manually via USB when needed, so my emunand will stay offline and my sysnand can keep going online until Nintendo releases their next firmware. Let's see how long this'll go - i basicly fucked up twice already. First my 8.1 emunand connected to the internet because i already set up the connection in sysnand and for whatever reason Wifi connections were allowed through flight mode, then after updating my sysnand i didn't have the most recent hekate or something (the nice GUI was gone) and upon first trying to boot atmosphere via fusee it may or may not have forcibly booted into sysnand even though there already was an emunand present. I shutdown the Switch immediately before it could establish a connection to my wifi.

Both times the fuckup happened more or less immediately after setting up the emunand with no stuff installed, just barebones firmware basicly, so here's hoping this won't already trigger a ban.

I'm not sure what to do at this point. I installed CFW and backed up my nand with hekate and everything was working perfect on Atmosphere. I turned my switch off left it in its case for about a month to wait for Sword and Shield and I went to turn on my switch but it won't turn on. The screen will turn on to the Nintendo logo and then it turns off. It shows the battery icon as full and then turns off and it just repeats over and over. It won't boot up with a payload or just to ofw. My battery wasn't even close to dead when I turned it off it was at 80+ %. Tegra doesn't recognize it on my pc either. Any ideas?

Hi there,

I'm interested in playing online on clean SysNAND and using emuMMC for all the hacking and homebrew.

Can someone please help me with the following questions?

1.) I'm going to use Incognito and 90DNS on emuMMC. Is there no need for them on a clean SysNAND?
2.) I will restore a 100% clean NAND backup to my SysNAND. Is any additional cleaning recommended? (Ticketblob, error logs, ...) My guess is that the NAND restore should be enough and cleaning of errors and stuff could even more likely result in a ban.
3.) Will my officially updated SysNAND stay downgradeable as long as I keep AutoRCM activated?
4.) How am I supposed to boot SysNAND for online gaming? Atmosphère SysNAND or Stock OS?
5.) What about automatic system updates on SysNAND? Should I try to prevent them? If yes, does that mean whenever I want to play online I need to check gbatemp or similar sites for a possible update first? Or are they safe as long as they only happen on my SysNAND/Stock OS?

1) You only need one of them. You can't have them on a clean NAND since you would need to run CFW for them.
2) No, restore of clean NAND is enough.
3) If you haven't burnt fuses (check with hekate), you can always go back without the need of a custom boot loader.
4) Stock. Never boot with CFW to SysNAND if you want to keep it clean.
5) Always check before on GBAtemp if it is safe to update.

So I updated Atmosphere and Hekate, and accidentally overwrote my Hekate config, so I can't boot into my EmuMMC.

Normally this isn't a problem - stick my MicroSD card in my laptop, fix the file, and move on with my day. The problem is I'm travelling, and while I have my Switch, USB-C cable, and Ubuntu laptop, I don't have a card reader.

So I can boot to a payload via fusee-launcher.py, but I can't do much with it. Is there any way to restore my Hekate config from inside Hekate, or access my SD card via a payload? Apparently you can do it through TegraRcmGUI using the memloader payload and the --dataini option to make the SD card available as a UMS drive, but that's Windows only - I can't see a way to do the same in Linux :(

Any suggestions?
