uLaunch - custom, open source Nintendo Switch HOME menu reimplementation

uLaunch

The themeable Nintendo Switch HOME Menu Nintendo forgot to make

This isn't some kind of HOME Menu extension, injection, patch, etc.: uLaunch is an entire reimplementation (of key components), 100% open-source!

Let uLaunch be the HOME Menu Nintendo never bothered to make!

Hey all!

It's been a while since I started working and playing around with homebrew replacing HOME menu in February. After several months of RE, new approaches and a lot of work, I'm glad to present the result of all my work related to HOME menu + homebrew....

Very nice HOME menu replacement XorTroll!!!

I have been playing arround with the devkitpro on my mac for less then a month.
Learning C and C++ at the go.

Like it so much and got inspired to make my first useful application. :toot:

Still learning and mostly copy pasting  ha-ha.
And lot of observations of how other people code.
So i made a Installer / Remover for my self.
Video of my app:

Uses
-Install/update uLaunch.
-Remove uLaunch.
-Install extra Themes.
-In app update.
-Reboot to payload.

Installation
This is very simple just download the DC-uLaunch_Updater.nro from my github page.
Create and place in your /switch/Ulaunch-update/ folder.
And then your done launch from HBmenu or uLaunch.

Screenshots and more my github! (github . c o m /Dcnigma/DC-uLaunch_Updater/)

Anyone got any ideas why when I press the homebrew button in the middle I just get a black screen and it never finishes loading. Also my options never stick so enabling the Foreground Viewer will say it needs a reboot, I'll reboot and it will be back to false again, if I then re-enable it says I need to reboot, reboot and it's disabled again repeat ad nauseam

Unless you're using a different build (previous to 0.1), settings should save properly. Black screens are usually due to invalid (corrupted?) JSONs, btw

Looks like it was JSONs causing the black screen, just went through and found one that was a bit wonky, tidied it up and that's working nicely now. However I still have the problem with the saving settings, just tried again, rebooted and it was back on disabled after the reboot.

Not sure why but uLaunch is a life saver for me. Couldn't get edizon to load cheats without crashing until I switched to uLaunch.
Must be a Kosmos problem or having multiple accounts since uLuanch makes us choose 1. Welp installing Incognito EmuMMC combo has served its purpose completely. Will only use checkpoint on sysnand offline

Very nice app for your first homebrew, I didn't check the code yet but seems very clean, a lot of thanks ^^

After using this a few hours I got this message: The use of online services on this console is currently restricted by Nintendo.

That's bc you used cfw and went online. If your going to hack your switch you have to at least turn off Wifi or setup emunand with 90dns or incognito to prevent bans.

will this make my console crash on boot when the next fw update drops?
If you dont update your firmware it will be fine.

Firmware uodate wont break this, but it will break the exploit and youll have to wait until the new firmware is supported.

Turn wifi off and keep offline, youll be fine.

lol thanks for telling that to me
I was asking because custom themes crash on boot when new fw updates drop

Why do you say SX OS works? that's not true.. well it boots.. but it doesn't really work.

Works perfectly fine with SXOS

Two recommendations. Use the bumpers/triggers to quick/endless scroll through games/homebrew or allow people to map buttons to specific functions. Redesign the power menu if possible?

Why would you say so? It boots yes. But that is not the same as "works perfectly"

Its actually highly recommended to not update with cfw that way you wont ever have to worry about accidentally connecting to Nintendo services.
But if your concerned about theme crashes just uninstall it before updating.

ive installed a nsp with goldleaf while using ulaunch. the game starts but then crashes as it gets to the first menu. could this be because ive used ulaunch while installing it? never had this problem before with other titles
