Quote from the Wii U optical disk wiki:

"The format was developed and supplied by Panasonic, which is one of the major patent holders in Blu-ray technology. It is not clear whether the Wii U Optical Disc is similar in physical design to the Blu-ray physical disc specification."

Blu-ray disc can hold up to about 50GB. They aren't blu-ray. That's why the logo isn't on there.
It's a proprietary Disc model by Panasonic ONLY for Nintendo and is quite a BIG part of the bluray standart maker, they surrely used a big part of the standard but made it unique to avoid the fees from the BDA.

And Bluray can be 50gb because it's "just" dual layer, Blurays are 25gb by standard.

Wii u games are not on blu-ray disc. Don't believe me? Look at the wii u game case, and look at a ps3/ps4 game case, All ps3/ps4 game case and even on the disc label have the blu-ray logo on it. None of the wii u game case or disc have that logo on it. They are not blu-ray disc.
It IS Blu-Ray!!!!!!! (It's just that Nintendo didn't want to pay royalties, so they modded the stock Blu-Ray Spec.)

...which by your own admission, makes it NOT Blu-ray. By this logic, a DVD is the same thing as a CD, just modified a little bit to hold more data, and a Hackintosh is the same thing as a real Mac -- it's the same OS with the hardware modified a little bit (PC parts). Right?

either way you cant dump wiiU with a drive , so your better off to use the homebrew and the consoles they belong to to dump your games nowadays

But maybe in the Meantime there are more LG/Samsung or other Drives with the Ability.

..for the Wii U - It maybe "might" be a BluRay Format, but I am pretty sure,a normal PC Drive can not read Wii U Discs.

Thank you.:)

iirc the Wii U discs use a modified version of bluray, so maybe you need a bluray drive along with the right software to rip them via a PC?
It's essentially the same kind of disc but technically a different format. I don't know of any PC drives that can read them.

Well, we'll probably get it to work eventually. I mean, if we can run HλLF-LIFE on a 3DS and DOOM on an original DS, then anything's possible, right?

The Question is,who invests Time and Energy in this.....many "new" Homebrewers" and/or Developers have unfortunately
the "Wii U is a dead and unpopular Console" Attitude...
Sad,but understandable...
