Combat is true turn-based, its about as far from Diablo as you can possibly get. You move and assign actions for one character at a time on their turn.

I'm surprised how many people want to equate isometric RPG with ARPG these days.

Was afraid of that...

So are any of the cRPG ported to switch more action based?

There are a bunch that are real time with pause, if you count that as Action.
Hm, would that be something like KOTOR? KOTOR gameplay was fine. They dont have to be straight action like Diablo, but for example I gave up on Baldurs Gate before the tutorial was over.

Oh, that was what I was thinking of. That and Icewind Dale were like proto-KOTORs in terms of combat. I can't really think of any others off the top of my head. Sorry.

Neverwinter Nights is one more step from Baldur's Gate towards KOTOR, KOTOR used the same engine actually. The animations are pretty jank compared to the cool lightsaber duels, but the underlying gameplay mechanics are quite similar, you control just one character and can play over-the-shoulder, with one or two AI party helping.

It should be releasing on Switch soonish, but its kind of hard to recommend to newbies because the default campaign isn't great, only its final expansion Hordes of the Underdark approaches the level of quality Bioware used to be known for. Back in the day this game was all about community developed campaigns and I don't know what support there will be on console for that.

I didn't even know NWN was getting a switch port. I know the enhanced edition on PC is garbage because Beamdog is charging for each of the premium modules individually while doing nothing to fix them.

cRPGs are basically dead, unfortunately. And if you want console ports, you're in a dry world there.

Try Titan's Quest. Or Dragon's Dogma.
