Hi all,

Not a noob, but can't get the homebrew menu to load in Atmosphere 0.9.4 and 9.0.1, and yes I'm holding "R" and clicking "A" when clicking the album. It just goes to the album every time and I've been trying different things for hours.

Now, this is the weird thing; I have four switches and all of them have the same Atmosphere files but only this one will not load the homebrew menu!
  1. Formatted SD.
  2. Tried different SD.
  3. Tried exFAT.
  4. Tried different Joycons (in case it was the "R" button).
  5. Have NFI what to do now.
Any ideas?

Hold R and press the album not Hold R and press A.

This makes no difference.

Or install homebrew menu nsp.

How can you install an NSP without the menu?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

You didn't install DZ Tinfoil or HBG, did you? It carries malware that changes hotkeys on Atmosphere.

No, it's a clean Atmosphere install. The only things I use are ChoiDujourNX and Tinfoil (original not rip-off) for USB installs. Neither will load though, as I can't get into Homebrew.

Try Kosmos pack with the latest sig patches. Can't use the homebrew nsp if you can't get into the homebrew menu at all, by default it is set to load with Holding R and pressing the album with touch screen.

I think that you're not holding the r button long enough
Keep the r button pressed till the menu shows up

i am a user of both hbg shop and ppack niether have caused issues with my atmosphere installs as long as you are in their discord and get the updated versions and use them specifickly as if they are in themselves a cfw package just like kosmos. they both work fine. I am even a patreon for ppack from SP..... AAAARGH MATEY !.... those who use the ppack from SP will understand..... :)

I had this issue, clean install of atmosphere makes it work again. BUT, now it stops working after I extracted the home menu using NXThemes Installer. Anybody else have this problem?

EDIT: It was the sys-ftpd app. This is what made hold r didn't work.

Exact same scenario here, just wondering if it's known? Seems like turning on sys-ftpd makes it that you can't go back in.

So I don't mean to necro this thread, but I was having this issue while installing, and hitting A while holding R didn't work, holding R and touching the album button on the touch screen didn't work...but holding ZR and pressing the album button did. I think there's a typo on the guide- which is understandable since on every other controller, the switch's ZR button is called the R button?

https://github.com/Atmosphere-NX/Atmosphere/blob/master/config_templates/override_config.ini

Overrides Format

Overrides are parsed from the /atmosphere/config/override_config.ini file during the boot process.

By default override_config.ini is not configured. It can be used to select the behavior of certain buttons and bind them to functionalities such as launching the Homebrew Menu or enabling the cheat code manager.

You can modify the override_key entries in override_config.ini with this list of valid buttons:

Formal Name.ini Name
A ButtonA
B ButtonB
X ButtonX
Y ButtonY
Left StickLS
Right StickRS
L ButtonL
R ButtonR
ZL ButtonZL
ZR ButtonZR
+ ButtonPLUS
- ButtonMINUS
Left DpadDLEFT
Up DpadDUP
Right DpadDRIGHT
Down DpadDDOWN
SL ButtonSL
SR ButtonSR

To invert the behavior of the override key, place an exclamation point in front of whatever button you wish to use. It will launch the actual game while holding down that button, instead of going into the Homebrew Menu. For example, override_key=!R will run the game only while holding down R when launching it, otherwise it will boot into the Homebrew Menu. Afterwards you may reinsert your SD card into your Switch and boot into Atmosphère as you normally would. You should now be able to boot into the Homebrew Menu by launching your designated program of choice.

I think default behaviour is, don't hold R while launching album to launch homebrew, and hold R while launching any other app to launch homebrew

Yes the default behaviour is:

Album applet: NO button pressed will launch HBL.
Any other title: keep pressed "B" to load HBL.

Any title or applet, NO "L" button pressed load with cheats and mods., press "L" while loading disable cheats and mods.

you can use Hekate Toolbox Homebrew (Releases · WerWolv/Hekate-Toolbox) to change the override_config.ini on a GUI.
