Hi all,

Been a while since i posted on here but i need a couple questions answered.
My son asked me go get the wii out so he can play on it during winter, loves the old game.
Its been in loft for a few years along with a external hdd with about 98 games loaded.
The hdd is faulty and will not load or be recognised by pc. Before i put wii away i made a back up of hdd onto an old pc, the back up was just a copy and paste onto the pc. I now have a new hdd but i'm not sure what i should do?
The games on hdd are in a wbfs folder and each game is a wbfs file. Can i just copy and paste the back up to the new hdd or would i have to transfer every wbfs game file individually to the new hdd.
Also with the wii being tucked away and was soft-modded several years ago do you think i should restart the whole soft-mod and install everything all over again.

Hope someone can give me some pointers on whats best to do.

thanks in advance.

roger

Format the new HDD as MBR Fat32 w/32kb clusters. Rufus (select non-bootable) will do this as well as various other formatting tools. The max partition size for a single MBR partition is 2 TB.

If the Wii is not broken, do not attempt to fix/break it.

Hello.:)

You can "Copy and Paste" the Folder with the WBFS Folder and the Games on the new FAT32 formatted HDD. <<-- Highly recommended.:)
BUT please NOTE:
If your old HDD Backup comes from an NTFS/WBFS formatted HDD/Device/Source you maybe HAVE troubles on bigger Games than 4 GB like for Example Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
It is recommended to use the WiiBackupManager for the Games to copy over. The Program automatically "splits" the File for you.:)

Good Luck
Thank you.:)

Hi again,
update on me progress.
Eventually up and running. I took the copy and paste route.
reason i chose the copy and paste route is that wibackupmanager didn't recognise my external hdd.
Not got a lot of knowledge about wiibackupmanager so do you know of a noobs guide that i can have a read of.
Thanks again for your help alexander1970, Itsuki235.

Enjoying the wii again.
