I'm getting around to setting up Citra, and have taken to decrypting all the CIAs that I have backed up from installing on my 3DS. I'm wondering if I need to hang on to those original CIAs, or if decrypted CIAs can be installed the same as encrypted ones, should I go back to the 3DS in the future. I'm trying to get things more organized and eliminate clutter where I can.

As far as I've heard, that inaccurate emulator should be able to install encrypted titles too nowadays

As for whether encrypted or decrypted is better to keep, there are good arguments for either - encrypted (if downloaded directly from Nintendo) is clearly the more accurate form, but decrypted works equally as well (on all decent CFWs) and means one or two less things to bother with when 20 years for now you'll want to extract or install them...

I tried installing it, but there was no result that I could tell. As a total noob with Citra, from what I can tell, the install feature seems more for dlc and updates, unless someone else can tell me better.

Haven't touched it either, but as far as the installation system is concerned there's no difference between a cia containing a regular application, title update pack, or dlc - all install to the virtual SD
