Hello. Haven't been here in a while, because excuses. A few years back, I had an R4 card on an o3ds xl and ended up selling the 3ds itself to a friend. I don't recall being able to run 3ds backups back then, but I've recently had an itch for some 3ds again, and also I never got to mess around with emulators. I had a few questions before I go ahead and pull the trigger on buying a n3ds xl and following the 3ds hacks guide. I just want to make sure I have as much information as possible before jumping in. I've read the 3ds hacks guide a few times over and I feel relatively comfortable. The only thing I haven't tried to learn more about yet is creating backups from my collection (or if I should even bother), but I'll cross that bridge when I get there.

1. Just to be absolutely clear, I don't need a flashcart anymore right?
2. Any suggestions on my best options for an sd card? I don't plan to have everything, just all of the basics from snes/gbc/gba/ds/3ds (Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, a few odds and ends)
3. A cheap sd to usb adapter will do the trick for me right? Any suggestions/preferences here? Speed is not really a factor for me, just so long as the job gets done.
4. How rare are unrecoverable bricks that are unrelated to user error?
5. How important is firmware version on the n3ds I'll end up with; is there a preferable range; and can I check this in-store before buying the console?

Thanks for any help and I'm sorry if I've missed anything important in stickies, I tried my best =(
