i’ve tried sooo many times to get this version of linux running. i always end up stuck on a black screen :(

i got another version working (the sd.img one from the main thread) and it loads up fine, but once i log in, the switch becomes unresponsive. i can’t open chrome, or go to settings, etc.

i can’t figure out what i’m doing wrong lol any help would be greatly appreciated! i have tried both versions of l4t (sd.img and noobs.img) with an official upgrade (1.3.1) and an unofficial upgrade.

Do you have another SD you could try? I have one that does all that and one that works like a charm

First off, thanks for this - it's really amazing :D.

I have a quick question, does anyone have a usb c to lan cable that works with this? I bought two (one usb c one, and one usb + usb c adapter) and no dice ^^;
Trying to get the connection as good as possible to reduce latency when using moonlight.

If I can get it working better, it'd be the best sofa gaming machine <3

You're welcome! If I understand correctly are you trying to get an Ethernet connection in handheld mode? Unfortunately the capability of using the USB-C port for anything other than docking or charging, called"USB-OTG", isn't working right now as far as I'm aware. You might want to search or ask in bylaw's L4T Ubuntu thread just to make sure nobody else has gotten something working.

However, if you're trying to get Ethernet in docked mode, I can confirm that I have a USB 2.0 to LAN adapter that works fine and have heard from others that they have working adapters. Sorry I couldn't be more help, let me know if you do find a solution somewhere!

That is correct - was trying to get it to work via handheld mode :). Not a deal-breaker, just something I was curious about :).

Have you personally tried Moonlight and have it working quite well? I'm trying to play Sekiro via it and, it's quite laggy in parts, even though my net should be able to handle it quite well. (I have both 900 Mb/s up and down - Japan net.)
(Though my home net isn't as good, it's still 500+ down, and 60 up. )

Unfortunately I don't have an NVIDIA graphics card so no I haven't tested it myself

I know that steam itself has no ARM64 build and can't run, I assume it's the same story for Steam Link but I'm not positive. If you hear otherwise let me know
Steam Link is available for Android, and runs on the new Android for Switch. The only Linux platform it's available on is Raspberry Pi, I doubt that binary could be made to run on Switch as the Pi uses different hardware.

Steam play is what I meant. Steam link is only for streaming. Anyone try WINE with this and new Vegas?

Just an update - I installed android on it and the game streaming is flawless. Literally, the best i've seen since a PC.
Highly recommend it (you can use parsec, steam's app, and even moonlight and they all work pretty much the same.)
My preference is Steam's app, though.

It may just be your SD card. I've used two, one works like a charm, the other only boots half the time and when it does it's awfully slow. In L4T 1.2 bylaws made a change that increased SD card compatibility but it slowed everyone else, so he reverted it in 1.3. You could try grabbing the 1.2 update zip from his thread and copying its files to the fat32 partition of your SD (overwriting the ones already there). Let me know if you try that and whether or not it works, if it does I might start posting a 1.2 image alongside my normal one.

i am literally having that exact problem and was thinking it must be the SD card, i think il have to buy a different micro SD, which one do you use that works like a charm???? THANKS

Not for certain

The new SD card arrived today and is working much much better,

Still have a few major problems with Ubuntu though:

The on-screen keyboard dosnt show up when using Chrome

Can't get the joycons to work (I've paired them and they are connected) but they don't do anything.

Can't get it work in the Nintendo switch dock,

I've run the updates from software updater and also ran sudo apt update / sudo apt upgrade

*Edit*

Ignore this, It was a problem with my dock, I've resolved this, works great now, thanks

Hi,I was using exfat for game storage, handling 4gb files ,and now the image uses fat32 as default, is that necessary for Ubuntu booting or sth?
Is it safe to format fat32 to exfat or ntfs when i use one card for both switch and Ubuntu?
