That's a valid complaint and the primary motivator behind the comic rework, actually. You can expect future comics to be more structured and knit together with narrative, but as I've mentioned before, it's a pretty radical departure from what we've been doing so far, so it required an unusual introduction of sorts. It's a teaser of things to come.

at least this is a change in the opposite direction of paper mario (making it more story oriented instead of less) but still I think the greater underlying issue is consistency IDK

So...my prediction is that in about 213 follow-up episodes, someone will say something in the lines of "...and THAT is why the charging ports of the switch is on the bottom of the device!", after which gbatemp will die of laughter (or old age...whichever comes first ).

I think the fact that there is no joke should have been communicated to us so we stop at appreciating the comic rather than let the confusion overshadow that. In the title of the post or a caption, perhaps?

To be honest, we wanted you guys to be a little bit puzzled by the tone shift, so this was very much an intentional move. The title was meant to be the clue, but in hindsight perhaps a foreword about the relaunch would've been welcome as well. I personally felt that simply putting it out there and letting the community figure things out based on visual cues was the way to go since explaining the concept would only detract from it. Some of you have already picked up on some of the hints dotted around the panels, but there are still some mysteries left to be solved - more will be revealed as the story develops.
