Trying to send files via FTP to a softmodded fat PS2 and while it works to send files to the memory card, I get permission access error 550 if I try to send them to the hard drive. Tried both windows FTP as well as FlashFXP.

Everything is set up using this guide and the PS2 is hooked up to my router and obviously pings fine.

Are these games you're trying to transfer?

Nothing transfers. Why?
Well, for games I believe people usually use something like hdl_dumb. Also: "IMPORTANT: many OPL users complain that HDL Server is no longer working in OPL v0.9*. You are right! It hasn't worked great for a long time. The tip is to download and use temporarily OPL v0.8.* when trying to transfer the files via SMB (network) to the Internal HDD." not sure if this relates to your issue or not, I didn't watch the video.

I have absolutely no idea what any of that is.

The PS2 doesn't work in the same way e.g. the Xbox does, so FTPing games over wont work, for example, each games has to have it's own 'partition' and be installed in a certain way.

You have to use something like HDL_Dum or as The Real Jdbye says something like OPL to transfer games over.

edit:

BTW, there's no need to panic.

Hello.:)

If you have successfully transfered Files via FTP to the MEMORY CARD then you have correctly setup uLaunch on your PlayStation 2 for Network/FTP access.Thats the ONLY solution for FTP I know.

To get Files (No GAMES please !) to the HDD first you have to "init" your HDD in uLaunch (simlpy open the content with uLaunch and you "hear" your HDD is starting up).
Then you have to set the UPLOAD speed to a maximum between 25-40 Kb/sec. (you have to try for yourself, mine is 15-20 Kb) otherwise you get an connection error or the PlayStation 2 "freezes".

Good Luck.:)
