But doesn't the use of emuMMC minimize the risk of getting online banned when on sysnand? Or is it too late for me since I've run Atmosphere? I have never been online so I could hypothetically flash my clean nand and go forward with emuMMC?
If you plan on using online play with a clean sysNAND, then you should use an offline emuNAND for all hackery.

If you don't plan on using online play, there's probably no real reason for you to use an emuNAND.

Hello everyone!

Yesterday I tried to restore NAND Backup 4.1.0 (Boot0,1, rawnand parted and biskeys) from 8.0.0 (updated via ChoiDujourNX) to get clean ofw sysnand for online and cfw emunand.
Burnt fuses - 5 (4.1.0)
Before restore i've turned off AutoRCM.
After restore from Hekate 5 and NYX I tried to boot OFW (Power Off -> Remove MicroSD -> Boot), but got BSOD.
Burnt Fuses - 8 (6.2.0).
Got error - Failed to decrypt pkg2 (unable to boot to OFW neither to CFW)
Successfully rebuild firmware via PC and ChoiDujour and booted to CFW.

Question - is there any chance to use sysnand for online without risk to be banned (as I understand I must update my Switch to 6.2.0 somehow, cause I've rebuild NAND via 4.1.0)?
Or I already left unremovable traces in my SysNand?

If you did the "DO A SYSTEM INITIALIZE" part of the guide when you restored your system with ChoiDujour, then that's probably the best you can hope for without a functional clean NAND backup. That being said, there's still a chance you could be banned due to conflicts between what's on your system and what's on Nintendo's servers. It's your risk to take. My personal opinion is that, without a functional clean NAND backup, there's no additional harm in trying.

If you want to use online play with your sysNAND, it needs to be updated to 8.1.0 from the system settings. If you want to preserve fuses, you can reinstall AutoRCM and update in the system settings while running Atmosphere. This should get your sysNAND to 8.1.0 while preserving fuses and leaving your sysNAND relatively clean.

Thank you for your answer!

Unfortunately, I followed another guide on switch_homebrew_guide (usingcfw - manualchoiupgrade).
On step of transferring SYSTEM I deleted only the "Contents" folder. PRF2SAFE.RCV file wasn't there. So this is TRY TO KEEP YOUR SETTINGS step in raijkosto's guide.

So if I understand you correctly, to play online I must boot into SysNand from Hekate with turned off AutoRCM (because previously I couldn't boot directly to OFW without Hekate), update and then make EmuNand CFW for homebrew and etc?
I thing it makes no sense to preserve fuses, cause I've lost 4.1.0 fuses with Caffeine support, and I didn't even want to use Caffeine.

It's difficult to say what your ban risk is in this situation, considering you restored a nonfunctional (albeit clean) NAND backup beforehand. It might be worth going back to HacDiskMount, mounting SYSTEM, deleting saveMeta, deleting everything in save except 8000000000000120, and deleting everything in Contents/placehld.

Alternatively, you could follow this guide, deleting everything in SYSTEM before adding to it.

So if I understand you correctly, to play online I must boot into SysNand from Hekate with turned off AutoRCM (because previously I couldn't boot directly to OFW without Hekate), update and then make EmuNand CFW for homebrew and etc?

If you don't care about preserving your fuses, then this is all correct. It doesn't matter if AutoRCM is on or not, since updating in the system settings (without Atmosphere) will remove AutoRCM.

Hello, everyone!

Acouple of months ago I modded my switch following this guide: ht tps: //nh-server. github.io/ switch- guide/

Everything worked according to plan and I installed a couple of games, but others I could not because of the firmware limitation.

Now I'm interested in upgrading so I can play other games.

I have
Firmware 3.0.1 (AMS 0.8.10)
[Hekate - CTCaer mod v4.10.1]

My final goal is being able to play as many games as possible, don't care about online, my console is always in airplane mode.

Do I upgrade only the firmware to 8.0.1 using ChoiDujourDX?
Do I have to upgrade Atmosphere and Hekate to? If so, could you point me in the right direction on how to do it?

Thanks in advance.

If you don't care about online play, you should update to 8.1.0 using ChoiDujourDX. You will also need to update Atmosphere. Here are my recommended steps:
  1. Remove all CFW files/folders from your SD card (that would be folders like /sept/ and /atmosphere/)
  2. Download the latest Atmosphere from github (currently 0.9.2)
  3. Download the latest fusee-primary (next to Atmosphere)
  4. Download these signature patches
  5. Put Atmosphere and the signature patches onto your SD card
  6. Download the 8.1.0 system update files
  7. Put the 8.1.0 folder onto the root of your SD card
  8. Download ChoiDujourDX and put it into the /switch/ folder on your SD card
  9. Put the SD into your Switch
  10. Boot your Switch into RCM
  11. Launch Atmosphere using fusee-primary
  12. Update to 8.1.0 using ChoiDujourDX. If you don't want AutoRCM installed as a way to preserve fuses and/or conveniently load RCM, make sure you untick that option. If your SD card is formatted as exFAT, make sure you install "8.1.0 (exFAT)" in ChoiDujourDX.

I have some questions about emuNAND...
1) I want to restore a clean NAND I did when I was on 5.0.2 but I didn't do a boot0/1 backup, only rawnand... I was following this guide(https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-...nofficially-without-burning-any-fuses.507461/) but it seems I need keys for 5.0.2. I was trying to my switchs' keys but it seems they dont work because I'm on 8.0... Can I downgrade manually with choidoujourNX to 5.0.2 then acquire those keys and then generate both boot files? PD: I already checked my fuse count and it says I have 6 burnt fuses (that corresponds to firmware 5)

2) Can I use one sd card for emuNAND and one for sysNAND?

The easiest way to do this would be to follow these steps:
  1. In case something goes wrong, make a NAND backup, including BOOT0 and BOOT1.
  2. Downgrade to 5.0.2 using ChoiDujourNX (this will install 5.0.2 versions of BOOT0/1).
  3. In Hekate, restore your 5.0.2 NAND backup without BOOT0 and BOOT1.
Edit: And yes, you can use one SD for your sysNAND and one SD for your emuNAND if that's what you want. You will have to power off your Switch each time you want to switch SD cards, however.

Besides tinfoil and goldtree are there any other ways to installing nsps to switch?
Yup, there's many other alternatives.
To name a few DevMenu, Goldleaf, DZ Tinfoil, Lithium and even this "freeshop" kind of homebrew thingy
Some NSP installers come with USB installs and additional over the network installs whereas some others are pretty limited to what they can do.
In addition to NSP installs, goldleaf allows you to browse the web on your switch!

What alternatives are there to using a PC or a phone to inject a payload?
Is there some sort of USB-C dongle that you can copy a bin file of your choice and just plug it in?

After installing a whole bunch of games, one of the games I installed before got corrupted (the only one I installed from SD card). Is this normal? Should I just delete and reinstall and forget about it?

Do you use an exFat SD card? If yes, retry with a Fat32 one.

edit2: Xoa's question and your reply to Xoa's question makes me realize I understand emuMMC/emunand on switch EVEN less well than I thought I did. He implies people are turning autorcm on and off? Does this mean you can use a sysnand alongside an emunand but that both them have to be on the same firmware? Then you only go online on sysnand? and you run emulators/cheats/etc on emunand? I've read elsewhere in other threads that autorcm slash having the wrong number of fuses is a great way to get banned. I guess nintendo has stepped up their game since the 3ds days, where it used to be possible to have your sysnand and emunand on different firmwares at the same time. (nintendo hadn't invented fuses yet I guess).
Not where you read having AutoRCM or a fuse mismatch is a high ban risk as there have been no verified bans for this and I run the banning thread on this website. But you are correct that emuNAND/emuMMC allows you to have a different firmware than sysNAND/sysMMC. On the Switch, people use it as a sort of ban shield where they perform all CFW and homebrew in one partition (usually emuMMC) and do legitimate online play in the other one (usually sysMMC). However people do not usually continuously toggle AutoRCM on and off as that is a bit of a tedious process and as explained earlier, no one has been banned for using AutoRCM by itself.

I formatted my sd card to exfat now it works had it on fat32 all the time! evey tutorial says i should format it to fat32. But now after i create my emummc it just show the kosmos and atmosphere logo and then the screen goes black :/ any solutions for that?
You noted you downloaded the files from sdsetup. Try downloading them from the Kosmos GitHub page.

Is there some sort of USB-C dongle that you can copy a bin file of your choice and just plug it in?
There are multiple external dongles you can acquire on AliExpress that send payloads similar to the SX Pro Dongle but allows you to change the payload on the injector. While I am not familiar with these, you can ask in the Modchips subforum for some recommendations. There are also internal trinkets you can install that can push payloads automatically when the console is in RCM simulating untethered coldboot.

If you don't care about online play, you should update to 8.1.0 using ChoiDujourDX. You will also need to update Atmosphere. Here are my recommended steps:

So, the steps worked and now I can play games that require higher firmware. That's great! Thank you!
Just a little detail... Now my game cards are not recognized... It keeps asking to remove and reinsert them, and I do that, but it does not work.

Also, with the firmware upgrade now it tells me that a controller update is available.

Any Ideas on how to solve this?
