I'm running ReiNX with OFW 5.?.? (basically the most up to date prior to paid online) and it's on AutoRCM. My Switch is NOT iPatched. I want to try some of the newer games but due to my firmware I can't. So I have a few questions.

Am I able to keep ReiNX or is there a different method recommended? I basically just used that and Tinfoil.

Are there any guides that will allow me to pick up from where I am or is it just a matter of adding CDJ to update the firmware?

You can keep your OFW on 5.1.0, move to atmosphere and setup an emuNAND with hekate.
By doing so you get to enjoy your latest games on emuNAND whilst keeping the sysnand intact leaving it as is.
In order to update youll need ChoiDujourNX but setup an emuNAND beforehand. You can do so with hekate, the latest version really simplifies the process.
Make sure you make a backup first in case anything goes wrong.

If you don't care about emuNAND or burning the fuses and whatnot then simply update to the latest version your firmware get the latest ReiNX and youre done basically.

Thanks for your help so far, seems simple enough

From what I understand the only advantage to not burning fuses is if a cold boot is found on an earlier version I can use it, is that correct?

It's pretty self-explanatory and straightforward nothing too baffling and perplexing really.

And yup that's the gist of it. Fuses are kept preserved in hopes of ever finding a coldboot exploit for users to roll back to that previous version and install said exploit.
In addition to that a fuse count kept intact makes it possible to downgrade in case someone messed up big time with their update.

Thanks for your help, looks like I have something to do tonight.

I honestly just hadn't kept up with the scene for almost a year because I barely touch my Switch so I just wanted to get some clarification first.
