From the makers of Dragon Quest XI Orchestral Overhaul Mod, we present Dragon Quest Builders Orchestral Overhaul Mod.

Main goal of this mod is to provide the proper auditory experience that is deserving of this masterpiece of a game by applying all available orchestral variants of the songs present in the game, as composed by Koichi Sugiyama and performed by the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra.
All necessary steps to obtain musical bliss will be detailed below.

Hopefully it need not be said, but...
PLEASE, follow this guide thoroughly as to avoid compatibility issues and so that your experience in using this mod is as frustration-free as possible.

This video below will give you a glimpse of what you can expect from our mod:

Installation:
First, download our mod package from one of the links below which contain all the necessary files:

Mirror 1 (MEGA): https://pastebin.com/w3seyF4A
Mirror 2 (GDrive): https://pastebin.com/XXMfMjBr

After downloading the mod, extract the contents of the archive with the mod to a folder of your own choice, it's compressed in 7z format which can be unpacked using 7zip or WinRAR, though we do recommend 7zip for best compatibility to avoid any potential issues.

Next you'll want to make sure you're using a CFW with LayeredFS support for your Switch, both Atmosphere and SXOS support it.

Now all you will need to do is select the "Titles" folder from this unpacked OOM archive and copy it to the directory used for LayeredFS on your memory card - this is crucial.
On Atmosphere, it's the "atmosphere" folder on the root of your memory card, put the "Titles" folder from this OOM archive inside that "atmosphere" folder.
On SXOS, it's the "SXOS" folder on the root of your memory card, put the "Titles" folder from this OOM archive inside that "SXOS" folder.
The patch is for the International version of the game (010008900705C000).

The only thing left for you at this point is to simply start the game and enjoy it with the Orchestral Overhaul Mod in all its restored glory!

Closing Words:
Our team REFUSES and will NOT accept any form of donation for this project, everyone on the team loves these games as much as you and believe that this is the absolute best way to experience one of the finest entries in the series.
While assuming and hopeful that you already have, please support this series and the amazing music that has come about because of these games.

If there are any issues with the contents of the mod, installation or there's any other issues you might have then please don't hesitate and write in the thread.
Be warned that 3 of the tracks aren't orchestrated and remain synth, however this is simply because those tracks do not have any orchestral recordings available at all, they are the night town themes from the remakes of Dragon Quest III and IV so please do not report those as issues.
Thank you for understanding.

We also have a PS4 version of this mod available right now:

Awesome! Wish i could use this on my vita and ps4 as well. It’s so awesome.
Well, we do have Vita and PS4 versions available unless you mean you don't have hacked devices in which case my apologies.
Thanks for the kind words though!

is music no longer copyrighted? or are actual links to such patches containing copyrighted materials allowed now (rather than just announcing and being coy about where to find it)

This is great!

May I suggest a version switching out the initial town themes with the "final" orchestral theme too? It's just that you only hear the final town theme at the very end of the chapter, and I'd prefer to hear something new during the majority of the gameplay.

Also - any plans for DQB2 when it comes out?

Nice work :)

We don't plan on making a "custom" music version, we wanted to stay as faithful as possible and simple replace tracks with their orchestral versions as such we won't be changing town theme into something different.

As for Builders 2, preliminary work has already started on it (Switch version only for now as higher firmware PS4s aren't hackable), though it's only me and SlowpokeVG on that one since Builders 2 formats are completely different and none of our existing tools will work on it, so Slow is making necessary Builders 2 specific tools.
Other members of the team are unavailable due to personal reasons.

At OP, has Square Enix ever released a recent DQ game that doesn't have crappy MIDI music?
Dragon Quest 7 and 8 in Japan on 3DS, since then, no.
Even Itadaki Street 30th Anniversary has "MIDI" (it's not really MIDI since it's pre-recorded, but origin is indeed MIDI) despite the fact that both Itadaki Street Special and Itadaki Street Portable had orchestral music.

IDK, still, some kinda of MIDI sound off to me.

Why dragon quest builders and not dragon quest builders 2?
Did ya even look at the date when this was made? lol
Hey, since Dragon Quest Builders 2 is out, are you guys going to do an orchestral mod of that game?
Makes the game 100% better, thanks for this one.
Working on it right now actually, planned to have it out Day 1 but unfortunately life got in the way.
It should be out sometime in August.
