Got a vita on the way, sd2vita adapter ordered and 128GB microSD to offset the included 16gb vita proprietary card.

Only things I'm worried about, reading up a bit in advance, is:
1) using same PSN account for my non hacked ps4 pro. Already made a Vita purchase on this, and plan on syncing my same account to my vita assuming its generally pretty safe (dont play on cheating or anything of the sort).. this same account is also needed for remote play right?

2) -norpdrm licenses captured for backing up my personal physical collection triggering a PSN ban (is this possible? detected?). Also if I dont plan on transferring the vita psn games I bought to any other vita, no need to norpdrm them necessarily, right? These are purchased games not ones that are free with PS+ sub and dependent on that being valid.

3) playing games that are >3.60 required. This is for norpdrm you have to be able to run the game, and im assuming even with latest 3.60 hacks you cant run games that require later versions? Spoofing seems to be to access PSN store not game compatibility...

4) if there are updates or (somehow freely issued) DLC's for games, what is the easiest path to get those tacked on for rips of games made from the physical cartridge?

thanks

is there anything else i should be made aware of upfront?

also it seems like vita hacking is fewer steps than 3ds, but theres more nuance involved for additional features/functionality added once you're past the initial hacking hurdle.

1. Yea it's safe the only people that have been banned so far are people that played games before release as far as i know. Ps4 primary account on vita is needed for remote play

2. Nonpdrm is only needed for any downloaded games from pkgj.
If you bought the games they'll work just fine even ps+ games will work just fine as long as you have ps+

3. Spoofing is for psn and online playing mostly, if you want to play >3.60 games you just have to install refood plugin and you'll be good to go.

4. Honestly i recommend just downloading the games from pkgj it's alot faster, i used to dump my physical games too, but getting them from pkgj is basically the same thing, you'll still need nonpdrm installed either way. Updated you can download normally, and dlc you can get from ps store or from pkgj as well.

I recommend you install enso and then these apps asap!

4. not sure what pkgj is , but sounds like piracy... not interested in that honestly. I already have the games so id rather do it manually myself if possible.

Thanks! I keep forgetting refood plugin for >3.60, but just to clarify that will allow me to launch a game from cartridge, so I can do normal nonpdrm procedure after that?

It's only piracy if you haven't bought the game, if you have then it's just downloading an already dumped copy identical to the one you're about to make, you can do it manually bit there will be literally no difference from your copy and the one on pkgj afaik, that's why i quit dumping and just get it from pkgj nowadays.

Yes it should work i think, I'm honestly not sure because i used my 3.68 vita to do the dumping and just backed it up and transferred to my 3.65 vita.

It's only piracy if you haven't bought the game

Depending on where you live.

In the US, it is still illegal, regardless if you own the game. DMCA has a section that defines "backing up" a game as illegal if you have to bypass the cartridge DRM in order to make a backup of the game.

also is there an easy way to get the stock PS boot up logo back? I've seen the enso boot up logo on youtube, and its not bad but I love the PS logo haha

and where/how does one go about turning off the PS logo glow on the 1000 series vita?

Ehh I'm not worried, I've invested thousands of dollars into psp/psv/ps3/ps4 games and and I'm sure a few backups won't bug sony especially on the the vita lol.
Dmca really needs to reevaluate what piracy means, and if game companies don't want us to dump our games they should provide an option to physical game buyers to get the digital version free and not have to buy it twice, I'd be out on the streets if i did that.

Agreed, agreed. There's a lot wrong with DMCA, starting with the 99-0 senate vote that passed it.

So I guess to return to the original question, is there any downside to hacking Vita? Haha

Are there any themes you’d recommend? Does it affect performance or battery?

Also any other weird things you can do with a hacked Vita that may not be common knowledge to everyone?

never heard of someone being banned on the vita for hacking the system (not to say that it's impossible). however, sony has a tendency to ban both account and system if you're caught, so I wouldn't use your main account if possible.

Gotcha, guess if I proceed its a risk I gotta take..

I'm not going to create a second account, that sounds like total PITA

sd2vita seems like the single handed best reason to hack imo. the prices and small capacity vita memory cards are what could've easily killed off the system from ever having a fighting chance.

I did get banned on the ps3, and I was using the same account on the vita, pstv, and ps4. since then, I've made a new account on the ps3, another on the vita/pstv, and bought a new ps3. the only thing missing is the ps4, but we can't sign in on 5.05. if you're banned, sony will send an email to the address associated with the account stating that "pirated or unauthorized software has been detected on your account/system." I guess that since they really can't prove that you pirated anything they thought they'd add in "unauthorized software" as a catch all. luckily, I didn't play any of those systems, so I had minimal purchases and no saves or trophies.

Piracy... My ass. Here in the EU the sellers are fucking greedy and asking more than 100€ for one single physical game! And when I wanted to get it from PSN, it got removed. And then the publishers complains and bitch about piracy? Lol, what a load of giant horse shit... Of course there are sellers outside EU too but asking ridiculous prices too and yet it got signes of heavy use.

Anyway, pkgj is very easy. Before I knew about pkgj, I had to download games manually on Windows pc. And not to mention the cooldowns before I can download a part of the .rar/.zip file. Like part1, part2 and so on.

I tried to join online mode a few times with a hacked psvita with cfw 3.65. Still not banned.

Yea I've played online, synced trophies from pkgj games, used vitacheat, remote played, bought from ps store, and i haven't been banned either not saying it's impossible either but i honestly think sony doesn't care what we do with our vitas anymore, sad but true.
And with so many games being delisted pkgj is the only way to play them now, unless you got the money to buy the overpriced physical version.

Even if you got the money, the physical versions aren't worth it. And they mostly have signs of wear too and not to mention you would have to keep switching the physical versions and therefore you'll lose the ability to use the sd2vita too.

my vita actually came with 3.63

buyer said it was on 3.55, going to double check that it was at some point on that version.. if so I can downgrade to 3.60 right?

It will probably greatly increase cycle-dependant wear on the battery - however it will decrease wear caused by overdischarge, and make wear by natural aging less significant ;)
