Hey everyone!

Simple question here; if a Switch is in RCM mode, does the fan turn on?

A few months back I stupidly tried a firmware downgrade (I do have a full NAND backup) with a shitty jig. In any case, I ended up turning AutoRCM on; backed up everything and then the Switch failed to turn on again. I've also replaced the battery with a fresh new one, as well as the right JoyCon rail (I believe that my crappy jig bent some pins).

Currently the Switch has no signs of life.
1) Plugging it into a computer with a couple of different cables never leads to it being recognized.
2) The fan does not move whatsoever when any buttons are held down for any amount of seconds
3) I've left it charging for hours upon hours and nothing improves
4) Inserting the Switch into the dock leads to the green light on the dock blinking for a split second before going out again.
5) I have a large amount of burnt fuses (I believe however many 7.0.1 took); and downgraded to v6.xx -- would this just completely disable any boot checks?

I've already ordered a replacement tablet, but am just curious if there are any immediate easy things I can try at this point. I have been using TegraRCMGui on a crappy Lenovo laptop, so I may try it on my new desktop just in case; but aside from that, I'm at a loss.

Appreciate any responses-- I've searched through a lot of threads here and can't seem to find when the fan triggers.

i also have a switch with auto RCM mode when you downgrade there is almost always a choice somewhere to turn on auto RCM or turn it off within ChoiDujourNX program i dont know what you used for yours but that is what i used and i know that there is a choice for it withinChoiDujourNX somewhere. What you mentioned it has happened to me in the past to my switch it goes dark and the only thing that brings mine back is to hold the power button for 13 seconds ,even tho you don't feel it vibrating or anything happens do it and then after that do the volume up and power button combination like if you're trying to boot to restore console, to me that works all the time it brings mine back try it . also the fan of the console to my knowledge and i could be wrong on this so dont quote me on it should only start if the console is being used In game of has been on for quite awhile to get to temperature for it to kick on good luck

That seems pretty normal. The fan will not turn on if there is no heat being produced and just being in RCM mode produces very little heat. I have only ever seen the fan spin up after going to Hekate or Atmosphere (excluding power loops, off topic).

The switch will not be recognized if the USB driver is not installed or has been replaced. If the computer updated or whatever, this driver might need to be reinstalled before the switch will get recognized.

TegraRCMGUI -> Settings -> Install driver.

After charging the switch, hold the power button for 15 seconds to make sure it is turned off. Then press the power button once firmly. Then plug it into the computer using a USB C cable. It should show up with the red "No RCM" icon in TegraRCMGUI turning into a green icon.

If it does not, then maybe the battery is loose, or it is not charging or w/e. Some hardware fault.
