Just tried Sonic and The Black Knight a while ago and wasn't thrilled with it. Granted, I maybe played it ten minutes before turning it off.

The potential is there, cool environments, story, cool character designs and music. The gameplay is just rubbing me the wrong way. The waggle here is nonsense, there's no room to explore any of these cool levels, the momentum goes from rocket-up-your-butt to dragging your feet through wet cement.

I'm not trying to sound like a hater, but so far this is the definition of squandered potential. Are there any fans of this game? Am I missing something?

Ummm it's a terrible game and everyone including the reviewers knew it. Have you never played a bad game before I don't really understand why this deserves a thread yes the game sucks ass.

Well this is a discussion board where you come to you know, discuss things. The critical reception wasn't all negative, heck, Nintendo Power gave it an 8 out of 10. There are fans out there of the storybook series, and I was hoping to get some different opinions on this game, maybe look at it from a different approach.

I don't see anything in the rules that explicitly says I can't start a topic about Sonic and The Black Knight. I'll check again to be sure :P

This is the overall average review of the game.

That's fucking terrible. Every game ever made probably had an 8 out of 10 it doesn't mean anything. It's considered the second worst Sonic of all time besides Sonic 2006.

And now you're defending it yet in your first post you didn't think you liked it lol.

I didn't defend it?

I don't know why you're trying to start an argument with me about this. There is absolutely nothing in my OP that warranted this unnecessary aggression from you. I just wanted to talk about a video game. You really need to chill out.

I think you're being too sensitive you wanted to talk about the game I have been. The game sucks ass. If there's any aggression from me it's at the game not you.

To be honest... I think sonic 06 is better than any of the story book games... And sonic forces is so mediocre and full of terrible writing and zero potential. (granted 06 had potential, just extremely rushed writing, it was clear it had a MUCH larger scope) So personally
(1 being best out of the selection, higher means worse)
1. sonic 06
2. sonic forces
3. sonic and the secret rings
4. sonic and the black knight
I never had fun with sonic forces. At least sonic 06 actually had a few times were it showed it had competency. Radical train (other than it's semi glitchy mach speed section) was a fairly fun level. Once you realized the switches were just often behind creates. The level became extremely fun to play through as sonic. And even the mach speed section was thrilling (when it didn't bug out, which was a bit less than you may expect) And don't get me started on kingdom valley (however that level really did go on and on.) It had some genuinely good level design and I was having fun for the most part. And I didn't mind silvers game play, granted it was a lot slower, and his slap move was nearly useless.
Sonic forces though... Automation is the name of it's game, and it sucks. I never had a moment that really made me think "I want to replay that again"
And then book games... I could never get into them, the motion controls were just so awful, half the time my inputs wouldn't register. Which while sonic 06 was a buggy mess. at least the game registered your inputs.
My point is sonic 06 at least provided the feeling to me that I could go back to that level and still enjoy it despite it's unpolished state.

I never played '06 because of the overwhelming backlash, but it already, in my eyes would have a leg-up on Black Knight simply because of standard controls. The motion controls in BK are pretty bad, combined with everything else I listed above. I still stand by my opinion that the presentation and art style is great.
