Hacking Old switch on fw 8.01 question

hello all!

I have an older whitch on fw 8.01, used biskeydump to determine it was hackable now I am wondering the steps to install SXOS. ( I used a pretty good tutorial from here last year)

Is autorcm still ok to use or is there a new method?

I have another switch that is hacked on fw 6.2 and sxos I am nervous to upgrade as I have autorcm installed and I am uncertain if it will lead to a brick. Is it still business as usual (choidujour to fw 8.01 and update my sxos files?)

AutoRCM is still the common way. If you update with AutoRCM installed, your switch won’t brick.

don't forget to remove custom themes before you update or you will get error and you have to do clean cfw install like me

I was thinking about using atmosphere, but I was confused about sigpatches and how to install XCI files with gold leaf. Is there a thread with a tutorial? I’m open to trying new things!

There are many easy-to follow tutorials out there on YouTube and many videos.
setting up atmosphere is dead simple.
you just drag over the contents of the zip file and place them onto your SD card. inject the payload with tegrarcm and you should be good to go.
on a side note you can use the kosmos bundle which saves you the trouble of having to manually apply the signature patches.

(customize your cfw package to your liking)
as per XCI files, you can: install them with tinfoil but you need some key files which you can generate with lockpick.
with that said. it's much easier to go for NSPs.

Xci’s are pointless and dumb, sigpatches come preinstalled on reinx

I was on sx before with another switch so I had a bunch of them. I ended up on AMS and everything is working great now!

Not if you only do it in emunand, offline.

You need both. You need something to jump the pins on the joycon rail. This is the "clip". You also need something to inject the payload via the usb-c port on the bottom of the system. This can be a computer or a phone, but it's more convenient to use a purpose made dongle.

i guess your last state is the 8.0.1 FIrmware. nothing happend only a few ports and other small tools but big exploits are still not found.
would recommend going threw the last Release and WIP Threads of this Forum.

That's probably why I can't boot into CFW when I updated, themes are so dumb.
