Yeah will definitely make it to the next release.

We have had a lot going on recently and really need to synchronise to get a release ready. @Leeful has had terrible computer issues, and I have had a lot going on IRL including finally getting a job (yay: money, boo: time).

Imho HEN 2.0 is not the be-all-and-end-all yet, so even including it is not a critical upgrade. Hen 1.8+VR does exactly the same, but HEN 2.0 tries to fix rest mode. It’s not 100% perfect.

Congrats on your new job!

So hen 2.0 just tries to fix rest mode that most of us don't really use this feature on jailbroken ps4. Good to know that, thanks man.

IIRC (and I could be wrong because I didn't followed the development) it's not like the PS3 where the PS2 emulator was generic, instead every published PS2 classic for PS4 has it's "own" tailored emulator, and people tried swapping ISOs to see if their preferred title could run on it.

I wonder why there are so many unplayable PS2 games on the PS4? What makes one game work while another does not?

When you write an emulator you often start off with only one game that actually works and as you implement more features and fix bugs then more and more games will work. The compatibility rate is down to how much effort they put into it.

On the PS3 they tried to make it backward compatible without putting PS2 chips on the motherboard, so they put a lot of effort in up front before they picked what games would be sold on PSN.

With the PS4 they followed that model, so they didn't spend all the time trying to make it work for all games first. Just the ones they wanted to sell, although randomly some other games will work too.

i'd love to see hen 2.0 added to this, including the ESP file :)
We will be adding it but there is no rush. The only difference with Hen 2.0 is the rest mode fix and this is only 50% working.

The 'rest mode fix' has solved the problem of games crashing when resuming from rest mode but 1 big problem still exists and that is successfully entering rest mode in the first place.
Sometimes when you try and put the PS4 into rest mode it will not work correctly and it will result in a black screen when you resume.

Because this problem still exists, there is no advantage in using Hen v2.0 over Hen v1.8.

Here's a useful tip when using rest mode:
When you put your PS4 into rest mode you can tell if it worked successfully by watching the LED pattern on the PS4.

Flashing White > Flashing Orange > Solid Orange = Rest mode WORKED and all will be good when you resume.
Flashing White > Solid Orange = Rest mode FAILED and you will get a black screen on resume.

I've recently had a problem with update nag. I use the dns trick and the updateblocker but still get the update nag. Any help would be great as I really don't want my kids accidentally updating it

Did you use the update disabler?

@siavash the info @ItsmeAJ has provided is correct, 5.07 is 99% the same as 5.05 and was only used in factory for a handful of models (most notably DAYS OF PLAY in Europe).

AFAIK no games need 5.06-5.49 OFW, its either 5.00/5.05/5.50 around that range of requirement.

Technically if any 5.07 game existed, it would be built with 5.05 SDK and require version spoofing to 5.07; all of which we can do on 5.05 anyway :)

@KiiWii @Leeful I really hope u guy's be able to update kid's hen to HENV2.0 anytime soon. Million thanks

I’ll sort it out, there’s really no reason to yet though. HEN 2.1.2 is now out, if it fixes rest mode then I’ll definitely update it :)... let’s get some results back :)

So far all tests from NulledPointer do nothing to improve rest mode fix above what stock 2.0 does.

TODAY:
Beta testing a few new builds of HEN 2.0 directly from sistro today, lets cross our fingers a rest mode fix is in sight.

Also testing PS2 placeholder app from xDPx :)

Report back soon.
