I'm fairly certain some Class-10 64GB SanDisk MicroSDs are causing issues with this. I just went from one of those to a normal speed 16GB Samsung and it installed on the first go.

Someone else in the thread has mentioned this same SanDisk card having issues:

I was struggling to get this card to boot and when it did it was extremely unstable.

tldr: If anyone's having issues with booting or instability, try using a different SD.
Is it this card? I have the 32gb model and it's perfectly fine.
Maybe problems with the 64gb model in particular?

64GB one, yep.

EDIT: Actually, mine doesn't have the U1 marking. Otherwise it's the same.

Mine is the one wich is White and Grey, not Red and Grey.

@bylaws Thansk for the quick answer. Is there any possibility that joycons could work wired in the near future? By the way, congratulation for the hard work. This is really promising!

Cheers.

Touch screen stops working after a few minutes but hey, this is just the first build. Impressive work, thanks!

@bylaws is the mac-address for bluetooth and the wifi fixed or picked from the Switch?
It's fixed
So for example I can use this linux to run wine and run windows games like Tibia? This going to work or i have to do it some other way?
No
hi all, why do I get this error when I go to resize the second partition?
Try rebooting
hey @bylaws

im about to reformat my 200gb sd card to support dual boot, in case i wanna update this version of ubuntu you just shared, can i do it from ubuntu itself or is a must to rewrite the sd card again for each update?
You can do from Ubuntu, however for kernel updates you will need to copy some files to the fat32 partition
@bylaws Hi, just wanted to report that there is a bug once you use the touch screen, dock it, then try to use it again, the touch screen will stop working for some reason. Once it is docked again, the whole desktop stops responding and I would have to hard reset my switch. Also, after hard resetting after the third time, I was unable to boot back into Linux so I'm currently formatting my sd card again :/
Okay, I'll look into it
Thanks, Ill grab this again in the morning!

Still can't seem to get my usb stick to detect in linux though. Plug it in and...... nothing.

And just to confirm, yes, it's an original and works perfectly fine, not a clone.
This is the one I have https://ae01.alicdn.com/kf/HTB12Pme...B-128GB-256GB-usb3-0-mini-Pen.jpg_640x640.jpg

I'm not too great with Linux and terminal (only mild dabling), so if someone can or wants to make a little guide with commands to build the Vulkan build of Dolphin on our glorious little tablet, that would be a huge help to some of us!
Looking in to usb, probably just gotta enable mass storage
Anyone installed kodi? I keep getting packages have unmet dependencies.
You can't add the ppa, need to install from repos
Which format of SD card should I format? Is exFAT is OK?
It formats itself when you flash
Trying to do this myself and I just end up stuck on a blank screen. Do i just need to wait longer or what?
It it's black but backlight in you flashed wrong, otherwise sd can't be read, I'm looking into it
Mustn't the 1st partition be exfat?
Is internet working from here surely no will be banned if they use internet in Switch Ubuntu?
It's not connecting to N servers with your console info, it won't get you banned.

I was surprised when I put it in the dock that it outputted in 4k on my 4k tv. I was shocked because the Switch usually only outputs in 720p. really interesting.
NV actually bragged a ton about 4k video playing capabilities of TX1 in their marketing fluff :P

So... anyone is porting Linux Mint next?
Mint lacks an ARM version. Just install cinnamon if you really want a distro that looks like mint.

Which format of SD card should I format? Is exFAT is OK?
Mustn't the 1st partition be exfat?
Just flash the img file, it'll replace the whole SD contents, taking care of partitions for you.

Trying to do this myself and I just end up stuck on a blank screen. Do i just need to wait longer or what?
Try restarting. I had hangs on boot before that were fixed with a restart.

Damn I really wanna try this out.
Now I have to decide if I wanna sacrifice a Sd card for that >.<

I'm really curious how good a video player works with it.
If someone is trying this out pls test a video player for me <3 (Especially high bitrate 1080p files)
VLC should play anything you throw at it.

VLC isn't hardware accelerated IIRC. (Neither is it to watch videos on chrome fwiw) Use something with gstreamer support, or the built in videos app.
Has video acceleration for me under Windows, so I'm not sure why it wouldn't under Linux.
