Hardware microSD w/ Adapter or SD card?

Hey guys i want to extend my space to my o2DS.
I'm thinking about buying a microSD with adapter.
The microSD i want to buy is:

Is it bad to have SD adapter instead of classic SD card? Does it affects the performance?
The weird fact is that i tried a:

• Toshiba 4GB SD class 4 (i think the stock card)
• Transcend 8GB microSD class 10 with Adapter

and the boot up time was:

• 13 sec
• 17 sec

So the SD card performed better even though it's class 4.
Has anyone experience with micro SD with adapter?
Maybe its due to the fact that the microSD is a bit old?

Full size SD gives you less points of failure. Also,don't buy from ebay or a third party Amazon seller as the card will likely be fake (format it and check it with H2testw as soon as you get it, before you use it for anything).

Is the risk high? Because in the price of the samsung microSD mentioned above i will get Kingston Canvas Select SDHC 32GB U1 (i'm not willing to spend more money).
Does it worth to pick Kingston SD over samsung/sandisk microSD?

Yes worth using Full SD over mSD

If you ever upgrade to n(2/3)DS(XL) or use a card on a different device that only accepts micro format, micro SD is perfectly fine. Just get spare micro-to-full adapters if you use both micro and standard a lot (high wear rate from lots of pulling out and reinsertions).

Which risk do you mean? Risk of something going wrong with the adapter - small but not negligible. If the microSD is a lot cheaper then go with that.
Risk of fake of corrupted cards from ebay or Amazon third party? EXTREMELY high. It would be rare to get a real one unless you're buying from a person you've bought from many times before (so you know they don't sell fake cards), or it is the ebay presence of a real store chain.

No, I meant the points of failure you previously said.

I just thought that in case I sell my 3ds I will keep the microSD for other uses. SD except from dslr etc isn't being heavily used.

In the picture you listed on your first post, get one or two more of that adapter piece. It's the one that white and grey. Its pins tend to go bad if you insert and remove the micro SD card a lot.

I've had the adapters fail a couple of times, but since almost all of my micro cards came with adapters, it was "free" and easy to get another one.

What was your experience? Would you go with full sized or micro?

Adapter works fine. IMO, it's better to get the micro SD with an adapter, so you can use both SD and micro SD card slots.

@PokFan MicroSD with adaptor should work fine, however to ensure no loss of data I recommend SD

I still think SD is better, because if you want to use it on the phone all you need to do is turn the 3DS into an FTP server so that if you have a phone or tablet (or even a PC) you can use the SD card like it was directly connected to the system.

Let's put it this way. Which do you prefer, the 3ds that boots faster but has less games or the 3ds that boots slower but has more?
To add on to that, it's only a 2 seconds difference. Meaning that you are sacrificing a huge 28 GB for only 2 seconds, in which you can't get a game up and running that fast if you chose to have the 4gb SD card instead.

I'd use the micro SD with adapter, since it makes upgrading to a New 2/3DS XL easier.

While its not impossible to fail, the chance is negligible and it will have no effect on speed. I personally always go for Micro SD as they are useful in more devices. If you ever decide to upgrade to a newer 3DS or just get a bigger card you could put a Micro SD in a tablet or phone or any number of devices. The number of things that will take a full size SD card these days are very limited.

I love microSD cards too, they are awesome and their compatibility huge.
