I have purchased a switch and realized the Joy-Cons have HD rumble according to the box and many websites. But it doesn’t feel different from the wiimotes. In fact i could say the ps4 controller rumble is “4K” Compared to the HD rumble. Does this have another function? thanks

Some games have special rumble that's like feeling the sound? It's kinda hard to explain. If you have Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, try driving into a coin with the Joy Cons out of the system and the volume off. It sounds like the coin collecting sound, but it's just rumble. There's plenty more examples but it's just really nice rumble lol

Edit:
Here's an example from InnerSpace I recorded when I reviewed it.

the wiimotes have speakers and i can feel both rumble and trick sounds when playing mario kart wii

Try 1-2-Switch, it's basically made to showcase this gimmick.
well fortunately i bought the mario tennis aces bundle with also includes the 12 switch game. ill try it. on mario kart 8 dx do i have to hold the joycons freely or with the grip?

A lot of people bought nintendo marketing idea of HD rumble.

I personally have the same question as you since day 1 of owning a switch. The rumble is weak aff and not really define.
Im used to xbox one s controller with the extra trigger rumble, that I would say a 'HD rumble'. It feels so good playing driving games or even FPS with the trigger rumble.

It's not that special, an xbox one controller has similar rumble where you have haptic feedback. It has multiple motors over the whole controller that can vibrate differently. HD rumble is exactly the same as haptic feedback seeing it also uses multiple motors. Don't even know why Nintendo is claiming it's a new thing they did when controllers have done it before. There is zero difference compared to an xbox one controller. I would even say the rumble is better with an xbox one controller since you have impulse triggers wich vibrate stronger the more you push it wich the Joy cons lack. The triggers of an xbox one controller also vibrate in a different manner with each gun. A sniper shot would be an intense but short burst while a bazooka would be a longer lower vibrating

I guess you are using the magic ns right?

It sounds like marketing bs to please shareholders. I have never really noticed a difference. However I have turned off my rumble on my DS4 and never looked back. I will probably do the same later with my Switch for the sake of battery.

wait, you have a DS4? I want one.

There is a game on 1-2 Switch where you have a box with marbles inside and you can count the number of marbles by movin the Joy-con as if it is the box. I don't know if another controller can do that, but I've never experienced that in a controller before. So for me, it's very HD Rumble.
