Hardware XO-X External HDD Concern

Hi guys. I have an XBox One X and bought an external USB HDD for it. Anyway, I have noticed that the HDD light is on sometimes, even when the system is turned off. I have not noticed any issues when playing games and such. Is this anything I should be concerned about? Any thoughts and help greatly appreciated

thats because the xbox ususually sleeps and still has power, and well usb is powered

USB is powered indeed.

Does your One update the dash/games automatically and or in standby mode?
If yes then there's your problem.

No as far as I know. I think I have system set to "Instant On". I have been updating System OS and games manually.

Try deselecting that, see if it makes a difference.
Otherwise put some black electrical tape on the HDD LED.

Besides it being annoying, it doesn't do any harm.
