I have seen a few failed attempts in the past at restoring the music from the original Yoshi's Island for this game and decided to just do it myself. I can see why others ran into problems due to several different issues I encountered, but I managed to get around them. I'm a huge fan of the original and felt this needed to be done for myself and other fans. In addition to the main level music I also replaced things like the little beat it plays when it shows the name of the level before it starts, the music that plays when yoshi morphs, the stage clear music, etc etc. All music has been replaced minus a few minor exceptions.

1. The story music (the musicbox music) was left untouched due to A. it is a redone version of the original so its actually not so horrible, and B. its chopped up into several pieces and the original music just wouldn't match it in any way.

2. The overworld/level select music cannot be replaced as it is a series of individual notes/instruments played in sequence that are added to and subtracted from depending on the world you are in.

3. The music that the extra level that you can unlock in each world has is left untouched. I had already used the original mini-game music for morph stage sections which fit better so nothing really worked with the extra stages. Also the music is far less offensive than the rest of the horrible soundtrack.

4. Some small misc stuff that nothing would match to and a few tracks during the final series of bowser jr/bowser boss battles (though the final final battle does have the final boss music from the original).

I haven't experienced any issues with it so far but please report any problems you find. I should note that this is meant to be used in Citra. I have no idea if it would work on a flashcart on an actual 3ds and I have no interest in trying, but please feel free to let me know if it does.

To install simply extract the roms contents, then extract the contents of the patch .7z file into ExtractedRomFS\sound\stream and replace the files, then rebuild the .rom file.

Enjoy!

edit: since i cant link the .7z here i guess youll have to google for it :)

"link"

Enjoy!

Excellent work! the file you linked to, does it contain any copyright materials by chance? :3 any music files that you may not own the rights to? If so, you won't be able to link to it from here. If not, cool beans, I can restore the link.

It contains modified .bcstm files. Please let me know if that's not allowed and ill remove the link. :)

Yeah, probably not legal. You can't put direct links or tell people exactly what to google for. We can't do anything about vague hints though :P
