Hacking what models of ps3 can be softmodded

there was a thread on here awhile ago i saw where it showed what ps3s could be soft modded and how to do it but i cant find that thread now so i soft modded my old fat ps3 my sister gave me but now its been over heating a lot and super loud fan i cleaned it today added new paste and its dose not over heat now but fans are still really really loud

so i will sell this ps3 for parts and get another one

so i wanted to know what model of pal ps3 i should look out for that can be modded as ps3s used quite cheap now days

PS3 Phat: All models are hackable using ps3xploit v1/v2 on 4.82 OFW. Downgradeable with a NAND flasher of some sort (or E3 flasher on NOR models). CFW compatible

PS3 Slim: All CECH-2000x-CEXH2001X and some CECH-2005x (check the datecode and run minverchk.pup to make sure minimum FW is 3.55) using ps3xploit v1/v2. Downgradeable using E3 flasher. CFW compatible.

Other models: Some CECH-2005x (slim) and CECH-3xxxx (slim with matte shell) and CECH-4xxxx (super slim) using PS3xploit v3 (aka HAN) on 4.82 OFW. On 4.83 OFW some solutions are available for installing games. You can’t install CFW on these models. In theory you could downgrade them by flashing the internal memory, but you can’t downgrade to a fully hackable OFW.

Are you sure it is possibile to downgrade the 3xxx and superslims to a given firmware (higher than 3.55)? All the downgrade utility that I've found only let you downgrade to 3.55, if it's possible. I know no methods to downgrade from 4.83 to, let's say 4.82 or 4.01. Even with an hardware flasher you need some content to flash on the chip.

I honestly don’t know. Like I said, in theory it MIGHT be possible to downgrade to 4.82 or whatever your motherboard allows. I own a CFW PS3 slim so I have no experience on HAN.

Han is not the problem. It is possibile to write something on the flash bios with an hardware mod. The problem is that I have nothing to write, unless you did a complete backup before upgrading: technically restoring a lower firmware backup is always possibile (thru hardware flashers). The patcher are able to create a 3.55 firmware from a dump. If your console needs something higher than 3.55 to work then you are out of luck. AFAIK. If there is a possibility to downgrade to a formware higher than 3.55 I would be really happy to know.
