this is for the EUR version.bin file, other users have to replace the titleID! don't copy that one if you are not in EUR region.
It took me a while to get it installed, let alone downloading the firmware I just forgot completely. First I realized I had to use the old 1.0 version of wupinstaller to install the update then I had to go back to my pc because the files had to be in the route of the "update" folder not in a sub-folder, yes I was losing the will to live but I survived!

the old version wasn't necessary.
The old, first released version, of wup installer had a black list to prevent installation of retail games and all system files (for security reason, preventing users to randomly install partial firmware files) EXCEPT the version.bin to allow spoofing.

a lot of releases after that just disabled the black list to allow both retail games and system files.
So, all versions of wupinstaller should have work, as version.bin has never been blocked in any version of the program. (unless I don't know about it, but I see no reason to block it when it was allowed from the start)

I'm out of Wii U scene for 1 year. My system update version is 5.5.1 with Haxchi 2.5 U2 and I use OpenDNS to avoid new updates.
After read some posts in this thread, I have some doubts and I like to clarify some points to ensure I understood it well:

1 - If I want, is it safe to disable my DNS blocker and update the system update to 5.5.3, correct?
2 - Is it safe to update the backup games directly or should I update manual in Haxchi? This question is because I have seen that the USB Game Helper is down, however there are alternatives. Previously I used this method to get the updates.
3 - The backup games continue working in online mode?
4 - Is there any better or alternative way to block updates than OpenDNS with an URL list?

Sorry for any repeated question and thanks a lot for your help and time.

it's safe to update to 5.5.3
you will not lose the possibility to hack your console if it's not already done.
you will not lose your hack if it's already done (vwii and wiiu are not fixed/patched to prevent or remove hacks)
If you have CBHC installed on a EUR console, you will lose the "autoboot", but you will not have CBHC deleted. you only need to restore the autoboot option. there are 2-3 guides on the forum to do it. (quick 2 steps guide : run "do not touch" app and select HBL > CBHC installer)
it's safe to update your games using automatic updates, no need to use WUP installer.
everything continue to work like before.

the better alternative to DNS filtering is to delete the folder used to store the temporary update files.
it will not block eshop, will not prevent game updates, but will not update the console unless you re-create the deleted folder manually.

Hi everyone...

I updated to 5.5.3 and reconfigured the blocking DNS...
How is it possible that Downloader Manager now have another X and says it fails to download another system update!?
If I open it I can see a system update trying to start download, and I'm already on the latest version! It's impossible! There is no 5.5.4 yet!
Is this a normal behavior? How can I clear the pending download?

It has been both asked and answered literally million times already...
It only means that your dns-blocking is set up correctly and no, there's no new FW out there.

Oh, thanks a lot...

just a reminder:
If anyone changed in the past their user PID via ftpU (like me), after updating to 5.5.3, haxchi will fail to launch and shows the message telling that the account that bought the game was deleted.
This means that, in this case, if I had cbhc installed I will end with a brick. Remove cbhc in this case before updating.

there's no freeshop for WiiU. that youtube video title is a click bait. in the rar it's windows another tool, not a homebrew.
Also, the titlekey website (which is forbidden to share, even in a youtube video tutorial) is down and dead. the (now old) URL might even be a virus/trojan. don't share it anyway.

to answer your question :
yes, installing games using WUP installer still work.
but it's in no way a "freeshop" homebrew, you are just using existing computer apps to access Nintendo servers. you need game tickets to get them, and the illegal site sharing them is dead.

I think I updated to 5.5.3, but I am using CBHC and the system menu says 99.99.99. Is there a way to know if the update went through so I can delte the update folder?

iirc, boot into mocha from the homebrew launcher, then go to system settings. I believe it will show you the actual software version.

This solution by Xs4all worked for me with the 105-3015 error.

I had the same Error Code: 105-3015 message even though I had the update folder, in the past I did remove this folder to stop updates and added the update folder back ages ago with the correct FOLDER PERMISSIONS.

This is what I did to fix, hopefully it will work for you and others who have the same Error Code message.

- Boot into CFW and launch FTPiiU Everywhere
- User you preferred FTP client, I'm using FileZilla.
- Locate the update folder at the following location: /storage_mlc/sys
- Right Click on the update folder and select File permissions..., take note of the Numeric Value: 755.
- If you have deleted the update folder in the past and added it back again, chances are that you may have not changed the Numeric Value to 755, but in my case it was already set to 755.
- Delete the update folder.
- Re create the update folder.
- Right Click on the update folder and select File permissions..., and change the Numeric Value to 755 then click OK to save.
- Now reboot your WiiU console and try to do a system update again, this time around, it should start updating.

Hey guys, haven't played my WiiU in quite some time. I did hack it before but the WiiUpdater and whatever it is I load into isn't on the top screen and I can't even remember which hack I used. I'm on 5.5.2 but I want to update to 5.5.3 so I can use the eshop and get the youtube and Netflix app for my niece and nephew (so they don't use any of the newer consoles I've got). Can I just download the upgrade from the in-system menu and it won't fuck up anything or do I have to go DL the update from somewhere else and then hack back into the WiiU with whatever I used before? But it's been about a year and a half or more since I last touched my WiiU and I seriously can't remember what I did before...but thanks for any help.

EDIT: I want to say that I hacked into it from the web browser with an SD Card in the slot. can't remember if that's Haxchii or something else, though. I do know sometimes it would work and sometimes it would just blank screen and I'd have to reset the WiiU and try again if it did that until it worked. Is there a better way to Hack my WiiU now? the easier the better to me.

the eu 5.5.3 breaks cbhc and the eu version is now 5.5.4. in us don't think there's a 5.5.4 release ,the 5.5.3 us version does nothing. so you should be ok.best cfw(for me)is haxchi because you don't need the internet to use it once it's installed.con is you have to buy a eshop ds game.

Forgot to say I'm in the US, so it should be fine to just install and update with no worries, then? I'll have to look into Haxchi because I did hate how many times I had to try that first way before. Do you have a good reference for doing Haxchi or the old method that uses the browser? i'd just like to know how to do it again.
