A very good day to everyone - I hope you are all doing great,

How to Make - ReiNX Firmware - Permanent ?

I installed the Latest ReiNX Firmware using - TegraRcmGUI_v2.4_portable

I have a few questions to ask -

1) What does setting the option - "AutoRCM" Do to my Switch ? Is this Option - Permanent - Meaning it will be there even after a Full Power Down ?

2) How can I make ReiNX a Permanent feature so that Even if I do a Full Powerdown of my Switch - on the Next Boot up - I will still be able to boot into ReiNX ?

3) Meaning I do not need to use - TegraRcmGUI_v2.4_portable - Everytime I boot up from a Full Powerdown in order to load and run ReiNX ?

Thank you and regards

  1. AutoRCM will make the Switch enter RCM mode as soon as it's switched on. It will NOT autoboot into CFW or OFW, you will still need a way to push the payload onto your Switch. In a nutshell, it removes the need of a RCM jig or joy-con mod, but you will still need a dongle/PC/smartphone/whatever.
  2. The only way to do that right now is to install an internal modchip in your Switch. There's currently no publically available couldboot exploit so a hardware mod is the only solution.
  3. See above.
One thing to keep in mind if you're thinking about installing AutoRCM is that it is a permanent solution (as in "it will still be there after a reboot but it can be uninstalled anytime"), however you could lose it after applying a system update. Because of this, it's usually good practice to update using ChoiDujourNX as not only it will prevent burning fuses as an added bonus but it will also let you keep AutoRCM no matter what.

1) AutoRCM will write some code to the NAND to put the Switch every start in RCM.
You can alway uninstall this feature.
Yes the autorcm is still there after shutdown.

2)
-You can use your Smartphone with Rekado etc.. to send the payload, but it is not permanent.

-You can use some Dongle SX Gear, some China Dongles, but it is not permanent

-The only REAL permanent merhod is to install a Modchip (Trinket M0, RCMx86.....)

Thank you everyone for the quick reply

My worries is that - This means that there must always be a Power source attached to the Switch at all times as - Putting the Switch into sleep mode is not enough as it will still draw power

If only i can do a full power down to save power - But it seems like this is not possible right now

Going on Long Trips will be a hassle as when the power runs out - I have to Re-ReiNX again

Modchip.

But yeah until I get mine fitted, I've got Rekado on my phone and a cable in the switch's carrycase in case I need to push a payload wherever. No need to worry about turning off or system crashes.

You can fully power down it is just harder to tell if you did or if it's actually in RCM. There are actually utility programs to boot into hekate then shutdown from there

Battery drain in standby mode really isn't that bad honestly. The other night mine was 30% battery put it in standby and next night it was like 25%.
