Rise & fall need to have the game updated to a specific version and also use dll files, I doubt that it can be used.

Yes it is and i didn't get it to work, but neither the bigger mods with images.

When i try to do this via Checkpoint and placing the mods in the mod folder on the savefile, Checkpoint crashes whenever I try to insert a file heavier than 6MB.

If I use the sx os/title/.../dlc/ folder they load, but they do it instead of the main dlc folder where the 8 dlc civs (Australia, Poland...) are, so I lose them.

And here comes the crazy part, i tried to load the 8 dlc civs by just importing the pc dlc folders like if they were mods, and the switch actually accepted them as original content. The result was that I retained the 8 civs and had access to heavy sized mods, BUT, I don't know why, I'm still unable to see the images, so I'm still looking for a way around that.

Given that even pc dlcs are recognized as original content and do work on switch, i wouldn't be surprised if someone gets R&F to work, even on a glitchy way
Have you renamed either Windows or MacOS folder to NX64, because that's how you get images working

Yes, that's the first thing i've tried. Then, I got into the .modfile and renamed every single reference to windows/ to nx64/ but it didn't work either. The curious thing is that the only two mods I've got running with images are the mongolian and ethiopian ones, wich have been done by the same person. The mods i'm trying to run are: Earth 2018, MoAr units and Basic Modern Civilizations for YnAMP.

I think It's a problem from Sx OS and I've already switched to atmosphere, but aparently this CFW doesn't accept .xci files, so I will download the game again in .nsp and cross my fingers

Any CFW can install XCI files using zerotwoxci. That and sigpatches are available for Atmosphere if you get the distribution from sdsetup.com.

But SXOS can emulate xci like cartridges and doesn´t have to install them.

I'm also trying

For some reason, when I put Expansion1 fonder inside DLC, Civ VI doesn´t recognise or load it.

Modifying the files it's possible to use the pc interface (with some graphic problems):

Or the title screen adding the hotseat option:

Hotseat work well:

Can confirm that HotSeat is easily unlocked & at least works for two turns. That's what I did:
1. Extracted game files
2. Found the 'MainMenu_PHONE.lua' file in the 'Base\Assets\UI\FrontEnd\' path.
3. Removed the '-- ASPYR EDIT REMOVE HOTSEAT' part in the line 576 leaving only '{label = "LOC_MULTIPLAYER_HOTSEAT_GAME", callback = OnHotSeat, tooltip = "LOC_MULTIPLAYER_HOTSEAT_GAME_TT"},'
4. As I use SX OS, so I put the resulted file into the SD:/sxos/titles/010044500C182000/romfs/Base/Assets/UI/FrontEnd/MainMenu_PHONE.lua

Everytime I enter on this thread there's something even better. Now hotseat it's a thing and if It works well I think Fireaxis will have to at least release an update or something.

It's inconceivable that people who have downloaded a backup end up having hotseat, pc mods, and god knows what else while the ones who payed for the game don't.

What? Hacking the game does not require stealing it. This works just fine with the game cart or eShop copy of the game.

What I mean It's that regular Switch players wich do not mess with firmwares and these kinds of things, or just can't because of their console's revision simply won't have access to this ton of content, and It's pretty sad. When the game came out there were lots of people complaining about hotseat, to the point of reconsidering or even directly not buying the Switch version.

I can understand the difficulties of allowing mods, but cutting off hotseat It's not fair, specially when It just works out of the box by removing a simple line.

By the way I finally got it to work, now I'm gonna take a look at R&F

How have you done that?

Someone already answered for Hot Seat, but for the PC UI dump your save, open UserOptions.txt, change LayoutOverride to 0 and restore your save. Incidentally, it's possible to use CQUI by doing this. The downside is you need to plug in a keyboard - neither joycons nor gamepad will work, and it's impossible to right click on a touch screen. It's also kind of crashy.

Another random thing is the PC EULA screen bypass can also be done here, albeit with a different file: grab a copy of IntroScreen_PHONE.lua and add AcceptEULA(); at the end.

Also, this game apparently uploads telemetry to 2K games. You uh, might want to turn that off by hacking around in the Lua.

Most UI-related mods don't really work since they patch the PC UI, but we're iPhone UI here. I think modding gamepad support into the PC UI is probably possible, but that's a lot of lua adjustments.

I apologize for zombie rez here but this thread is topical and I was worried a new thread would cause more confusion.

I'm trying to run the lord of the rings (civ of the rings) mod for civ vi on switch. I created the DLC folder, dropped the mod in, and tried running it with no luck. Then I changed the platform name to NX64 and still it's not recognized. The mod is BLP. Any ideas what else it needs?

The mod can be found here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=894221062
