Im trying to redo my other 3ds for CFW so i watched a video on how to uninstall CFW with scripts and Godmode9. After that everything is all good, i went on and started seedminer and after that started on frogminer, cool i have Homebrew access now but a problem started when doing the flipnote process. I get A9LH detected. So i go to youtube and look up a video to update to B9S from A9LH and install on my sdcard all the files i need, but when it tells me to hold start to get into safeb9installer i get nothing but the 3ds homescreen. If anyone can help would be appreciated.

So. you had cfw on it in the first place yes? Which im guessing would of been a9lh? If ya do. Use https://3ds.hacks.guide/a9lh-to-b9s and stay well away from video guides.

Thanks. Trying now.

I did everything it told me to download and where to put the files on my sdcard but im getting the same results.. hold start while powering on just brings me to the homescreen. I have no problem getting into godmode9 on my other 3ds.

First of all, why did you uninstall CFW to begin with? You could've gone from A9LH to B9S without doing the whole frogminer procedure. But anyway...

Ok so, just to be sure, power off the console, hold Start, then power it on while keeping start pressed. Then power it off, and do the same with Select. Only proceed if the console boots normally to the home menu in both cases (which means you don't have CFW), if you get anything else don't proceed or you'll brick.
After you tested that you don't have CFW, take the SD card and plug it in your PC, go into the boot9strap folder, and you'll find a file called key.bin. Take that file, and rename it to danger_skip_a9lh.bin
After that power on the console, go into the Download Play application, and select download DS to boot into Flipnote JPN. Redo the steps to launch b9stool and this time you'll be able to install b9s

First of all I was uninstalling CFW because I wanted to sell it to a friend who didn't want CFW but hours later he decided not to buy it so that's when I decided to start with frogminer and on top of that I didn't know it had A9LH on it because I bought it from a gaming store used. No need to bash me but thank you for your help it worked.

To confirm if your n3DSXL has A9LH type custom firmware,
  1. take a spare SD card and reformat it as FAT32 + 32 KB cluster size in Windows File Explorer or guiformat.
  2. Download Luma3DS v7.0.5 and put this file on the root of the card:
    • arm9loaderhax.bin
  3. Reinsert card into 3DS, turn it on, and hold the (Select) button.
    • If your system is hacked with A9LH, you should see the Luma3DS v7.0.5 configuration.

Placing the arm9loaderhax.bin on the SD card is to double check you do not in fact have A9LH. If you did have A9LH and went through with Frogminer, this would have softbricked your 3DS. Once you're certain this isn't the case, follow @zacchi4k's advice in bypassing the A9LH false warning when continuing with Frogminer.

If your friend later changes his mind in wanting to buy your n3DSXL without custom firmware again, you can do one of two things:

(A) Revenge
Sucker punch him in the stomach for having made you lost your custom firmware in the first. If the friend's a she, avoid the whole physical violence thing... Instead, ask for quarter to half down payment as risk mitigation before removing the CFW. If she backs out again, you keep that money for your troubles.

or

(B) None the wiser
(B) Update the custom firmware to Luma3DS v9.1, boot9strap v1.3, and GodMode9 v1.7.1 on the CTRNAND. Delete all traces of custom firmware and homebrew files on the SD card, except substitute adding the Rei-Six boot.firm on root. Make this file hidden so your buddy will not know any better the 3DS is hacked.

Thank you SO much for this. I recently got a used 3DS and ran into this issue. Worked like a charm!
