Recently, i have dusted off my GBA because i wanted to play a pokemon hack called '' Pokemon Delta Emerald'' on my original GBA, after downloading the rom i run it by the '' Ez GBA'' program to correct the rom to be able to use on ez flash, but after putting it in my SD Card and into the GBA, when i try to play i always get this file format error that i really don't know how to fix ... i wonder if someone here can lend my a hand on this one ...

The modern loader does not need save patching if you are using that, however if you are still with an older one then patch away.

When you say downloaded the ROM did you actually get a ROM -- for legal, bandwidth and some technical reasons most ROM hacks are distributed as patches (not sure what the pokemon fans are using these days but ips and ups were popular there last I checked and I don't imagine they would have gone to another just yet). Said patches might be quite big (as big or bigger than a ROM) too.
There are however the occasional patch maker, ROM site or similar that goes with modified ROM so it is not impossible you downloaded a ROM that is giving you trouble.

I really don't know if mine is new or not as it didn't came with any identification, all the SD hold the is roms and saves itself, the ''OS'' to say so, is from the cartridge itself, and i downloaded a direct patched rom from a forum, i am used to .ips files since i play SMW hacks a lot .. i will try to run it unpatched but i'm almost certain it won't work ...

Just tried it here with the rom with no patching and i was given the same result, a '' File Format Error'' info box ...

[SOLUTION]

The way i fixed it, was upgrading my firmware, i think i was on 2.030 and upgraded to 2.050, after that i formatted my SD card to FAT to be sure, patched rom didn't worked, but the unpatched one seems fine so far ... Saving works well, the only thing i've encountered so far was a ''dry battery'' message, but that should be on the rom side itself ...
