Hello, I found a good offer for a second hand nintendo switch and I would like to buy it. The problem is that there is the possibility it may be banned. let's say I ask the seller to send me a video showing that the switch works correctly, is there something the seller can show me to confirm that the switch is not banned?

Performing a game update would confirm it's not CDN banned, playing a game online would confirm it's not banned at all

Not really. The Switch could already be flagged for a future ban. Even if he demonstrates that it can connect to the eshop, you could receive a ban later.

mmmhh... ok, but I read somewhere that after being banned it is still possible to connect to the eshop, even if with limited capabilities. So the only way to know if it is already banned is to make the seller update a game or making him play online?

if the asking price is too good, then that would be a red flag for me! Somebody just trying to dump it for a quick buck?

oh well, it looks indeed to good to be true, 200€ for a switch, a pro controller and 4 games, but he already sent me a video and the switch seems to work just fine.

Precious few Switches are going to be banned. Most people aren't hacking their Switch. If the Switch connects to the eShop, it's not banned. There is no good way to prove that it was never hacked.

As I said before I read somewhere that if you are banned you can still access the eshop, even if you can only redownload games you already own, or download demos without the ability to buy anything new. Is this true? I need to know it cause I'll try to make the seller send me a video to confirm it's not banned and the connection to the eshop seems the fastest option between online playing and game updating. The problem is that if the ban let's you connect to the eshop as if nothing happened, the seller can't confirm anything.

You heard wrong. When banned, you cannot use the Eshop. At all.

You can still buy games on the website and download them with your switch afterwards (if you have a nintendo account linked)

It don't work anymore after August/September 2018, so soft ban has upgraded to hard ban with game update and access to eShop taken away.

Sorry to bump. I'm buying a hackable switch very soon. And I don't want to get a banned switch. I have a couple of questions:
1. Can you connect to eshop on a CFW?
2. If that switch had a CFW and you change to OFW, can you go back to CFW?
3. Playing original games on CFW and going online can get me banned?

I want to check if I should buy it.

here's what I've gathered.

1. use emuNAND with cfw and have ofw be completely stock, clean
2. you should be able to go between both firmwares, but block nintendo if you're using cfw at the time
3. I think so, but I know that 9.0 or 9.1 introduced an update to the cart reader, so I think it has to go through in order to play games on the latest firmwares.

I was worried Error Code: 2811-7503 was a ban error (since I have no idea what an actual ban would look like), but it seems the eShop servers are down? Yet I can still download updates and redownload games via home screen icons?

This week has been incredibly weird for me; I accidentally deleted my emuMMC folder whilst trying to clean up my microSD card, then my university postponed classes until next week (who knows if they're going to be postponed again, and what that means for group assignments?), and now Nintendo's AU servers are semi-offline.
And it's only freaking Tuesday! I just hope my younger brother's uni will be operational; this is his first year and first semester. Though my younger cousin (who's just about the same age as my brother)'s uni also has a postponement, so...

sigh

I'm getting an error as well signing into the eshop. I thought it was because I was downloading too many things at the same time.
