That‘s up to you but i would keep the sysNAND at the current version and only update the emuNAND. For emuNAND you can use every Version except 2.3 atm.

thank you for your answer!
a last question plz?format my sd card to xfat or fat32 finally?a guy here tells me to format fat32
how can i put largest games 4gb on fat32 card?
any youtube video to do this?
thanks again!

Hmm you can try both and use what you want. I‘m switched back to exFAT because i don‘t need to split the xci Files. But there can be problem with the exFAT driver. There is a small chamce that the datasystem can be damaged and you would have to reformat the SD.
If you are using FAT32 you have to use thr App XCICutter to split the file into multiple parts that are 4gb each.

If it is a patched console than it makes no difference which Firmware you use non will work atm. So to be 100% sure try to start helake or another cfw. If it works than it‘s not patched.
But with that serial number it‘s 99% sure that the console is patched.
Maybe there will be a possibilty in the future but no one knows when or even if there will be a cfw on patched consoles.

So currently using exfat. But I read it can corrupt easily?
If so is it enough to like copy the whole SD card to pc. After that format the SD card to fat32 and after that copy everything back?
Will this work?
The benefit of exFAT is that you can store files over 4GB on that format. So a game like SSBU which is 13ish GB wouldn't fit on a FAT32 card without splitting it into 4GB parts. I'm not sure how installing split files goes, or if it's possible. But you shouldn't have issues with exFAT anyway.

If you have files over 4GB on the card you won't be able to copy everything back to the SD card if you have it in FAT32 format.

Installing goes exactly as you said. Install through tinfoil then delete the NSP from the SD card. Can't tell you how it is with split files or if you can do that as previously mentioned.

You could always make a backup of your SD card and if it corrupts just format it again. Then you can copy the files back onto it and carry on!

If i can, How i can upgrade my FW offline?under CFW? I Have SX Pro.

Thanks a lot!!!!

For updateing offline kust use choidujournx you only have to find the Firmware Files online (can‘t give you a link here in the thread because firmware files are copyright content by Nintendo)

And if you see the SX Menu then the console is exploitable because on fixed consoles you can enter RCM but you can‘t send/start a payload. If the menu is shown you have started the payload.

Hey all. I am new to the switch scene but not new to modding. I currently have a launch day switch on 3.0.2 and I am interested in seeing what I can do with this. However here is my little dilemma. My son is desperately wanting smash bros for his B-day and a switch for Christmas (both fall in the same month lol). I have already bought his christmas but I will get him one around tax time as an early graduation present.

I know my switch is currently able to be modded but I would like him to be able to play the game on mine till he gets his switch. I wont be taking it online. I do know it will update my console to 5.xxx from the game cart. Will this kill my ability to run CFW? Will I need to do additional steps? Im no stranger to opening consoles and doing soldering however I am a bit slow on the software side but after reading a tutorial and following them I am good after. Whats my options here?

First decide how you'll mod .You need a way to enter rcm mode and a payload to run. I payed for sxpro but their are cheaper and even free solutions. Somebody with your experience shouldn't have too much trouble. First thing you'll want to do after getting into rcm is backing up your sysnand (there's guides scattered about) then get whatever cfw or homebrew launcher you decide running (again I'm not familiar with all the free options). Finally use choidujournx with an official 5.1 firmware file (there should be one on the game cart for smash Bros) and select to install it with exfat support (let's you use sdxc cards), this should put you on 5.1 without burning fuses and enable autorcm which will boot the system into rcm mode automatically so all you'll need to do is press the power button and inject the payload

one more Question, can I install the latest version directly or have I to install one by one until I get to the latest version?

Pleased to start like this in this magnificent community.

Hi. Not sure how to explain this, but I’ll try.

I use autoRCM on Fw 5.1 (updated from 2.3 via ChoiDujourNX, SD card is fat32) andi use tegrasmashGUI on my PC to push the payload. I think it is CtcaerMod 3.1 that I use.

When I power on to RCM after taking out my sd card, and connect tegrasmasGUI ... it shows I am in RCM mode - and I push the payload, my Switch screen what I consider a “splash screen” and says “Hekate IPL” for a second or so and then changes to blank screen. I disconnect and reconnect the usb and repeat the process, and the launch process is “normal” Hekate —- allowing me to access the Hekate menu and eventually launch CFW.

My question is... what’s going on and is there anything I can do to avoid having to push the payload twice?

(If the answer is to update my payload and sd files, I can do that - but would like guidance there too, as i am nervous about over-writing some file and messing up AutoRCM or burning fuses. I think I have NoGC enabled too, but not 100% sure.)

Thanks in advance!

Hello

I am new to the switch scene. I am familiar with the doing PS Vita mods and Wii U mods.

I have bought a Splatoon bundle switch used and the firmware was updated to 6.01. I have bought a few physical games id like to update. I have no interest in playing online. Should I update to 6.2 or keep it on 6.01.

Do I need a RCM Jig to boot to RCM mode and deliver payloads or buy a SX-Pro? I might buy a joycon rail and solder it. I have read that updating to 6.2 will kill sleep mode and some other features missing. I don't care for playing the latest games only emulation and Retroarch. I bought physical Minecraft, Lego Worlds and Portal Knights for my child. I would like to update those but don't mind waiting if I cannot update from the Nintendo updates and need a different method.

I have tried to read the FAQs here and on Reddit, but there are many new software terms and items i am not familiar with. I see Atmosphere has been update to 6.2? Tinfoil is for loading game patches?. What are my best options to get this switch modded, I can use a PC to deliver payloads vs buying a SX-Pro?
thanks in advance.

hi guys,

i have a bit of a dilemma here :/ i have a switch, which is not patched! however, am i correct in saying if i go down the jailbreak route i cannot play games online because nintendo will ban the console? is there an alternative to play games online via different servers? or is it a case of playing games offline and thats it?

it's for my sons xmas and i dont want to take this option away if he decides to play online with friends (hes only 7) i guess there is no way to do both is there? and pay for the games he decides to play online.

also, i have mario kart 8 and tried to register a new account/transfer existing account on the switch but its asking me to do a system update. is there a way to avoid this and still register? i am currently on 4.0.1 and not sure if i should update to latest....what do you guys think?

cheers

One thing I'm afraid of:

I keep my enunand on 4.1, same as sysnad, because I'm afraid if I'm launch into OFW switch will brick .

I mean, lets say I boot switch normally, with emunand in 6.2 and OFW on 4.1 What would happen? It would have previously burn fuses so it wont start since the fuise count > than 4.1, or even if it burns them right there its the same problem.

And a nand backup wont work because it will be from OFW 4.1.

Worst case scenario, if that happens and I ahve like 6 fuses burnt in 4.1, can I update thought hekate choidujour or something?

Alrighty, so, i've recently bought a switch (i went for the smash ultimate limited edition).
It came with firmware version 4.1, however i didn't want to fiddle with it and risking messing it up (i really want to play smash ultimate) especially since i've recently read that online with a CFW isn't really safe yet.
As such, i'm now on 6.2.

Questions are:
  1. I've read something about burnt fuses, what's up with that?
  2. Was there any chance i could've played smash ultimate through a CFW before proceeding with the update?
  3. What options are left for me currently if my goal is having a CFW + smash ultimate with online functionalities?

You're overcomplicating it! You can backup your NAND, as Hecate will support exFAT. In order to modify your NAND anyways, you'll need to make a backup, modify the backup, then upload the backup. You can just save it (as well as making a full backup through Hecate) then before modifying it.

Well, not 100% sure on this, but I do know that Atmosphere 0.7.2 was recommended to someone else for firmware versions below 4.0.0. You could try that!

Sorry for the waiting but i want to be sure that i don't brick my switch.

Can someone confirm me how to to it on fw 2.30 that all will be fine.

Here is the link if this can help.

Thanks.

Hi folks,

I'm after a little guidance, i've not used my switch in at least a couple months, it's currently on 5.1 and is pre-emu nand.

My main questions are;

Can i backup my existing game saves, will they work post upgrade?
Do i need to restore/go back to clean pre sxos prior to installing emu nand?
Assuming I'm content with using the jig etc, I can just update normally, or should i explicity try to keep fuses for XYZ reason?
