What would I need to transfer save files from a system to an SD card, and then back again.

I plan to buy an older switch (3.0.0 or earlier) and use it for that. Also is there any way to play newer games without updating, or at the very least updating without blowing fuses. Mostly want to use this for save editing for Pokemon games(both Let's Go and the Gen VIII games).

Being able to do most of this without ever having to connect to the internet would be best, I could care less about online and I am paranoid about doing so.

Simple question wasnt sure where to ask, but what do you guys think the possibility to add songs to Super Smash? if they can add edited models to Pokemon games, shouldnt it be possible to do similar with songs on Smash or a way to add your own replacing current ones? i wouldnt know how to go about extracting the files to even check myself

SaltySD should allow that once it's fully up and working. Unsure about doing it through layeredfs but that may be possible too

Hi,

I just wanted to make sure. I have a vanilla 6.2 Switch with nothing in terms of CFW ever done to it.
Can I use this guide:
"guide.sdsetup /#/manual620downgrade" and then this guide:
"guide.sdsetup /#/beforestarting" (Sorry I can't post links yet)
To play Smash Bros Ultimate? I have done CFW and modchip stuff with consoles in the past.
Just to avoid some pitfalls. If someone has something important to chime in, it would be very appreciated.

Bonus Question: Can I later just go to the OFW again like nothig happened?

Thanks.

I have that on my micro sd with firmware version 5.1 but I can't get in to use it. When I boot my switch it gives me the warning about the sd card and if I press "album" it just blinks and stays on the home screen. Is there some way to update outside of the home menu?

Ok so I just had to use a fat32 card to run choidujournx. Silly me

"Boot into maintenance mode by holding volume + and - when turning the console on. If you have AutoRCM enabled, which you should if you updated without burning fuses, hold volume + and - when sending the ReiNX payload."

I've tried this step and I just can't get into maintenance mode to delete/block my updates. What am I doing wrong?

  1. You can't install firmware updates as .NSP files
  2. Although they aren't really that complicated, they are definitely worth using
There has been no progress on any other exploits.
Most likely because they were distributing the keys necessary to launch Atmosphere which is against the rules of GBATemp.
DevMenu is the only tool that can do that hence why 5.1 is considered the best firmware for CFW.

Yes, the sole purpose of the Emutendo folder is to allow safe swapping between EmuNAND and SysNAND.
The patches the 4-n compiles are for using Fusee as the bootloader. Kosmos' patches are for using Hekate as the bootloader. In both cases, the CFW is still Atmosphere but depending on the bootloader you use, it will require different patches.

The kip patches have a plethora of functions such as enable backup launching (of titles you don't own), enable the nogc patch, and disable signature checks on unsigned .NSP files such as homebrew.
When EmuNAND was ran from the NAND, it was 15 GB because obviously you can't fit the entire NAND within the NAND. Now that EmuNAND runs from the SD card, it can achieve full size which is around 30 GB.
Well 6.2 still has not been publicly cracked so I wouldn't count your chickens before they hatch.
If you made the NAND backup when you were on firmware 6.2, then yes. Make sure you also restore boot0/boot1 as well as the rawnand as all 3 files are needed to complete your NAND.

CAN I CONVERT A HEKATE BACKUP TO SX OS BACKUP ?CAN I EXTRACT A RAW NAND IN PARTS OR TRANSFORM A SX OS NAND IN A RAW ?

I managed to snag an unpatched Switch from BestBuy today, and I ordered the SX Pro from TX. So here's my question: While I wait for SX Pro to arrive, can I run ReiNX then switch over to the SX Pro once I receive it? Or should I wait to be safe?
Yes, you can curb yourself with ReiNX until your SX Pro arrives.
I noticed that the switch has the ability to transfer user data from one switch to another over Wi-Fi. Can this be done if one of the switches isn't on the latest firmware?
Nope, they have to be on the latest firmware.
Hi.. Sorry for noob question, are biskeys related to firmware version because I dump them under 6.1.0 but my clean nand is about 6.0.1 version. Thank you
No, biskeys never change because they are hardcoded into the console.
I just ordered a new switch. Can i get SXOS on it? What's the difference between SXOS and the pro? Will i be able to play backup of the new pokemon game with SXOS?
The difference between SX OS and SX Pro is that the Pro comes with a jig to enter RCM with as well as a dongle to send their payload in order to launch their CFW; SX OS is a license for CFW by itself. While both can play the new Pokemon, all other CFW can play it as well such as ReiNX and Atmosphere. And all non-SX OS CFW are free.
ok how do i extract updates from xci file??
You have to use hactool. Or you can find the firmware files from xbins.
hey guys,
i have a couple of question related to ChoiDujourNX and autorcm. i have a switch on 4.1 ofw, and am planning to update it to 6.1 using ChoiDujourNX.

1a. if upgrade on sysnand - will i be able to turn off autorcm, once i have upgraded in order to not have a battery draining issue (i plan to use it sporadically, so i don't mind applying the payload again)
1b. if upgrade on emunand - if i use sx os and emunand, will i be able to only update cfw, and turn off autorcm mode on my cfw

2. if the above is not possible and i don't want to downgrade later - burnt switches OK, is there a way i can update to 6.1 (official update will take me to 6.2, which will break cfw)

Thanks!
  1. First, there is no battery draining issue with AutoRCM. Second, if you disable AutoRCM, you will burn fuses rendering yourself unable to downgrade back to 4.1 in case a future warmboot or untethered coldboot exploit comes out. So it is recommended to not remove AutoRCM.
  2. You can disable AutoRCM if you update EmuNAND's firmware since you cannot boot into EmuNAND without using a bootloader that doesn't burn fuses in the first place. The risk of burning fuses comes when you update SysNAND.
do i need to format to fat32 as exfat prompt update before using atmosphere? any link for guidance
I mean you can just right-click the SD card, go into Properties, and format it yourself. If the SD card is bigger than 32 GB however, you must format it with a third-party program such as GUIFormat.

In order to transfer save files offline, you will have to use a homebrew save manager such as Checkpoint or EdiZon. For updating without burning fuses, use the homebrew application ChoiDujourNX.
Hey guys quick question: can I play original cartridge games having CFW installed? And if it's possible, how so? Thanks in advance.
You can but if you play them online, you risk a ban. Offline use is perfectly acceptable.

Yes but as mentioned in the first guide, you will not have sleep mode for the duration you are on a firmware below 6.2. And if you make a NAND backup (including boot0/boot1) before hacking it, then you can restore that to return to OFW like nothing happened. Simply booting OFW won't remove traces of CFW/homebrew.

  • No
  • By booting into RCM and using their bootloader/CFW
  • I'm sure their site has instructions on how to do that.

I don't know how SX OS dumps the NAND or what format it expects them to be in when restoring the NAND, but Hekate accepts any non-corrupt dumps and has its own folder structure for restoring them.

You have to merge them. You can look up on Google any file joiner program/script or use one linked in CTCaer's GitHub page.

Thank you very much. I will follow the guides to a T and will report back if everything went OK or not.

Edit: Sorry to bother you again @Draxzelex, but the guide says I need to prepare the keys.txt. I read that 6.2. has changed some keys. (elmirorac tweet).
Do I need the new keys from 6.2 in my keys.txt or are tweeted ones not necessary for the downgrade and I can use the old ones I found (starting with master_key_00 = C2CAAFF0... )?

Edit: So let me clarify a little. If you're XAW#000###X then that is lower than XAW4001100X or XAW7001780X so yes it'll work. As it says, XAW70017 AND BELOW will work. So that includes 70001.

Huh? Smash works on all current CFW. Unless your console is already on 6.2, you can install and play smash bros just fine. It doesn't require 6.2.
I mean I was gonna pirate it lol.

Can anyone point me in the direction of where I can get the exfat driver for 6.0.0 or, for any version above 6.0.0 but below 6.2.0 please? I can't find any games which need 6.0.0 to get the driver from, and the switch I got today has 6.0.0 on it, I'm hoping to get exfat so I don't need to mess about with splitting files.

Hi,
I've already unlinked my primary console from my hacked switch, and I'd like to remove my linked Nintendo Account from my User on my switch. Am I too late for this now that I've disabled any internet access. Am I safe enough from any Nintendo repercussions if they ban the console. Currently, my switch has my user, then my linked nintendo account. Although I removed this console from the linked account after i hacked it. But i've never been online since, so it still thinks i'm linked to my nintendo account.
Is there a manual way to delete this user? Are there any suggestions? I just want my hacked switch to not have any record of my nintendo account. But I've started some games on a separate account on the console, so a factory reset wouldn't be ideal.

Hi again,

This is just a question to sate my own curiosity. Earlier in the thread I asked about restoring a NAND using hekate with no trace of CFW on it to go back online. I was told that this wasn't safe to do and that it is still a ban risk. If this is the case, where else are these traces of CFW / logs stored if not on the NAND?

Are there any concerns about sx os' sd card emuNAND? i know that there were worries about it when it was on the partition of the sysNAND. and I remember long ago people worrying about sx os because it's not open source so people can't see exactly how their things work. Will the upcoming atmopshere emuNAND be fundamentally any different than sx os' current emuNAND?
