Homebrew Question Bricked My Switch Can Someone Help?

1. I don't remember sharing it on wnx, and I never would.
2. I never did that. I can wholeheartedly say that nobody should be held accountable other than me and JellyPerson. Sure, it's a good idea to have NAND backups, but not having them does not make it your fault. It's still my and his fault. It always will be, what we did is horrible

If you bricked with this and did not have a nand backup, your switch is gone indefinitely.

Exactly what I thought unless this guy has access to some info which we don't have(obviously the specifics of what broke) and decides to reverse engineer it correctly.(I highly doubt it unless there is a "ctrl + z" or an undo for his program, or some sort of trace/logs to go off of)

How? You've been lucky, that's it. Over a year without backups is asking for trouble. But again the biggest issue is that you guys are acting like consumers for a legit product. It's not a legit product. There are no guarantees, nowhere, and this community is nice enough to provide you with tons of hours of free work to help you get started.
There is no "mandatory" thing cause you're doing hacking, you're not outside of Nintendo careful hands, heck you're stealing from Nintendo. People are nice enough to tell you every single step of the way what you SHOULD do, but ultimately this is YOUR decision. If you're actually a dev then it's really concerning that you would decide to skip these recommendations for such a long time.
Again if you're a dev, you're probably very aware that malicious people are everywhere on the internet. If you (hopefully) take the time to protect your computer against such attacks, why wouldn't you be doing that for a console as well? How hard is it to understand that when you circumvent security to install unsigned stuff, there is no longer said "security" and any app will be able to do whatever the hell it wants?

You can scream all day and night that these people are atrocious, but none of your complains will ever hold any ground in any sort of court because you're doing something clearly identified as illegal in the first place. You didn't get burnt for homebrew, you got burnt for trying to pirate an unreleased game. It's not a nice feeling but owning the responsibility is the first step to healing.

I WISH GbaTemp would actually hold up to their own words and not condone piracy, as it is so clearly the case here. This mess wouldn't be happening with people who are there for homebrew. When you're not starving to the point of needing to pirate something that isn't even out yet, you have more time to think about the dangerous situations you put yourself in.

There is nothing left to debate here anymore. We'll get nowhere if we keep threatening people and saying how bad the people responsible are.
It happened, it sucks, but continuing the vitriol will help no one. My heart goes out to everyone who had their hardware affected by this, and I wish there were a reset button. But there isn't, so let's all stay as level-headed as we can.

Dude you cant reverse something thats written.. you must overwrite it with something else, wich you dont have. Its time to close this thread and ban those 2 for life. Also share who they are to everyone so they get recognised for what they did everywhere. Peace.

You can't expect everybody to know the process of making a backup.
Not everyone has the time to verify if a file contains brickcode.
Hell we wouldn't even be here if developers didn't intentionally conceive brick code as a highly sought after leak.

I can't really understand the motivation for someone to create and distribute this .nsp, but not converting it to .xci and target the ransomware users instead, that is completely unforgivable. I wonder if TX isn't involved. Maybe they'll release an update for their xci loader being unable to write to /system and advertise their shit as the most secure. Which may very well become true considering how many users don't backup their nand.

To say pirates deserve it is WRONG. If it was not for the piracy of games, where would the motivation be for work on mod/hacking? My systems is not for piracy, it is for my bought games to be 'cloned' and used instead of the original. I have 3 kids that lose the carts/discs or they leave them laying around unprotected and the disc gets damaged. Even my reason is not 'legal' if you gets to the roots of the copyright. No one here has a right to stand on a pedestal and preach to others about right/wrong. Malicious behavior that is being discussed is absolutely wrong no matter how you try to present it. That is why I am always the last one it seems to mod my devices

Here is my take on the wanna be creator (he did not create, he just repackaged it)
1) His posts he was acting innocent and just lurking to marvel at the results of his actions.
2) He only came forward when Nintendo was getting credit for his actions.
3) His partner then chimed in to take heat off his buddy by being bold about his actions.
4) After he was 'doxxed' (new term for me.. yes I am old), did he start to be apologetic for his actions.
5) When he saw MOD asking if he had a solution, he saw the opportunity to keep himself from getting da boot.

MOD, I know you are trying to make a bad thing better, but my advice is to tell the bricks to get over it and give the axe to the 2 who started the mess to allow forum to get back to normal, otherwise, it just makes GBATemp appear shady and weak.

Eh. The warez scene reacted swiftly. Some people got burned. Thats pretty much the end of the story. Make a boot0/1 and systempartition backup (3gb uncompressed 600mb compressed) of your current firmware from now on, if you are paranoid.

And if you are one of the ones that got burned, not pitty for you - you had to pirate and you had to be first, and you had to get your warez from an unknown source. And you had no full nand backup (how am I not surprised...).

Wasnt the funniest of jokes. Reactions are pretty damn funny though.
