I recently bought a switch online (version 4.1.0), as i began the process of installing cfw i found out that i had to update my switch in order to use my 64gb sdxc card. I wanted to stay on 4.1.0 so I followed a guide on Youtube on how to use my sd card without updating the switch.

Anyways as I finished following the guide and rebooted my switch I ended up with a blue screen on startup and now it is bricked, like an idiot I didn't make a NAND backup either. Is there any way to fix it or do I have to replace my switch.

The guide I followed on Youtube was this

****edit****
I've fixed it for now, thanks to everyone who helped. Saved me from wrecking my switch.

If you made a NAND backup (which should be the very first step of every tutorial to be honest) you should be able to restore it with Hekate.

EDIT: Nvm I see you never made a backup. People making these tutorials should make that the first step...

I have been saying this since day one..... And no one does that or no one listens and skips the backup
It would be common sence to tell users to backup first or even link my guide >:-?<

You fool... Always backup first , but oh well lesson learned.
Suggest you backup what you have now before you really destory it.

Only restore same version 4.1.0 with choidujournx and you may use the exfat option in there as well

Thanks for the links, i've backed up my switch but im struggling with fixing my blue screen, the second link you gave has a lot of nro's and payloads that i have no idea what im supposed to do with. Ive got an XCI file but dont know how to extract the update.

Could you tell me how to get started with it all?

Extract the UPDATE partition from an XCI image of the cartridge that contains the update you want into a folder

Im sure you can find a tool on the site to extract xci,

Your easy bet would be just to download it from xbins

Your only option is to rebuild the nand.
Choidujournx will not work for you as you cannot run cfw..

You need to use the pc version of choidujour, to make your system update files.
And then use hacdiskmount with your biskeys and newly created system update files to rebuild your nand to get your console working again...

Important...
Make sure to restore the same system version, or risk burning fuses and or it refusing to work

Your on 4.1.0 so restore 4.1.0
il give you a guide to follow,But you have to get your own nx.4.1.0 system files from xbins or via extract from a 4.1.0 cartridge..

Follow this guide if you use same system version files you dont need hekate to boot it...

As a general rule you should stay away from youtube tutorials

Not really, there are some really good youtube guides, i used some of them myself and they teached how to to make nand backups.

You just have to select carefully who you follow.

YouTube guides spread misinformation and become outdated VERY quickly. I would never recommend a YouTube guide.

Just have to do your research,, and what ever you hack in life make sure you have a means of backup or replacement parts, or a plan to revert something your not sure on... basically cover your ass in what ever you do, for less complications later if any...

Youtube may show you what to do, but most of the time not how to fix what you just fucked up..

You do what ever you want to do tho,but do some research.

I would recommend videos from people i trust, the majority may be bad but some people do make good guides, as the post above me said just do your research before blindly following a video and always have a nand backup before hacking.

It doesn't matter how good they are, they could be the best guide in the world. They'll become outdated very quickly. Outdated stuff can have major bugs and issues.

Talking about misinformation.

I used a 256GB SDXC card formated to fat32 on 3.0.0 and up (no exfat driver) no problem. But then I also like reading, and dont mimic hand movements, or whatever a youtuber came up with on the spot, when he/she had to fill a pregnant pause in a video, he did without preparing a script. (Which can easily take twice the time of doing the video.)
