Hardware PS3 with Cobra Ode shutdowns itself... Is the PSU?

Hello everyone!
This morning I bought a PS3 CECH-3004A (Hard Disk replaced with one of 500GB) with Cobra Ode installed for only 60€... But there's a little issue with this console: the PSU.
The seller told me that the console is able to turn on just like usual but, after some minutes, it shutdowns itself because the PSU has no power.
So, if it's really the PSU, what shall I do? There are lots of videos on YouTube that try to solve this problem just by screwing some screws inside the PSU, but I think that's not the best thing to do. Does the Cobra Ode needs power directly form the PSU? It's the really first time that I have to deal with an Ode, so I really don't know how it works. If I should replace the PSU, which would be the best one to use for that specific model?

And also, regarding the issue, could it be caused by overheating instead of the PSU? Honestly I've never heard about a 3K Slim reaching high temps.

It's a PSU, not a battery. What can be happening is that it is not sending enough voltage first.

Before you troubleshoot the PSU, does the console overheats? Does air come out of the air vents? It could be that fans need cleaning and thermal paste be replaced.

If it's the PSU indeed, if you have no practice don't try to repair it yourself, don't try to repair it without expert supervision. You can have a nasty shock or severe electrical burn, even with the PSU disconnected from the grid. Either ask someone else with experience to help you or get another console (YOLDed for example) with a compatible PSU and switch it.

Thanks for the reply. For the moment I don't have the console with me, it has to be shipped in the next hours. I reported here what the seller told me and, I just wanted to clear all my doubts regarding a possible overheat problem (that os 3K modles should be very rare).
Have to deal with a change of PSU isn't a problem for me, I've already disassembled some PS3s and I also have a PC that once a year needs new thermal paste, so I think I know what to do.
The only thing in which I'm really a noobie is the Ode, because I don't know how much power does it need.

Have to deal with a change of PSU isn't a problem for me, I've already disassembled some PS3s and I also have a PC that once a year needs new thermal paste, so I think I know what to do.
The only thing in which I'm really a noobie is the Ode, because I don't know how much power does it need.

I never had or dealt with an ODE but should not be a significant overhead to the console power draw. I the console can handle charging a couple of remotes, should handle an extra PCB board and aapen drive with ease.

You can turn the screws in the PSU a bit. It will work again for a small while but if i were you i would order a new one (psu).

If I had to pick up a PSu which would be better? The APS-306 or the EADP-185AB? According to psdevwiki they're both compatible with 3K slims.

I think I have the proof that can solve the question "is the PSU or the console is overheating"... The seller said that, when the console shutdowns itself, the LED disappeares (like if the console isn't plugged). Honestly what are the chances of seeing overheating issues on a 3K Slim? Searching on the Internet I didn't find anything.

I've changed the PSU but, for the moment, my PS3 hasn't the HDD.
When I turn it on, the LED becomes green and then, after 2 seconds, the console shutdowns itself and the LED disappears. Considering that this problem happens also with the new PSU, could it only be due to the fact that the HDD (and so the operating system) isn't recognized by the console? Or my PS3 has some major issues, like hardware ones?

Edit: Even if I try, I can't access to the safe mode, the console shutdowns itself even before the first beep. Could have I bought a faulty PSU?

Red light (as usual) --> Green light (for 5-6 seconds) --> Blank LED (when the console shutdowns itself) --> Red light (if I press again the power button)

I checked again the console and, for me, it's everything ok: I cleaned it from the small amount of dust there was and I've also replaced the thermal compound. Considering that I've also replaced the PSU and now the HDD is inserted, what issue could my PS3 have? The fan test is perfect (about 20 seconds), it's seems like the console can't get the power that it needs, but I'm sure that the PSU works fine. Of course I can't access to the safe mode, the console shutdowns itself even before the 2nd beep. Can you please help me? Thanks a lot!

Probably a YLOD then, it is always possible since consoles are seen as toys so leaded solder can't be used and without lead solder it starts cracking a lot more hence why older consoles still stay strong after all these years is because in those leaded solder was used. Normally you should get a blinking yellow light but i don't have any experience with a super slim so it could be that there's no yellow light with that model. The only thing i can still think of is that there's a short circuit somewhere but i don't think that would be the problem. If it were me i would cut my losses and go looking for another one and maybe use that one for spare parts in the future for when you need it .

all consoles since the ps3 days have solder without lead in it. In the past consoles weren't viewed as toys but since the PS3 consoles are seen as toys and the law says that a toy can't have lead in it hence why they had to step away from leaded solder. A ps3, ps4, 360 and xbox one all have solder without lead in it. Yeah it's best to sell it for parts and buy a new working one.

Thanks a lot for your help... Yeah, sadly consoles are seen as a thing that only children use, anyway I don't understand why they don't have lead on it: consoles are normally PEGI 12 / ESRB 10+, at that age you're not a child anymore. And even if you're a child, I don't think you're able to disassemble a console!
I've just put the console on ebay.it, let's see if there's someone who wants to spend 70€ on it.
