Threaded Video enabled.
Audio driver: switch_thread
Vsync disabled. (Close content and restart the game just to make sure, that it takes.)
Frame duping enabled.
Bilinear filtering enabled (not that it matters, but game looks bad otherwise)
(PSP PSX bios, but that shouldnt matter for framerate. I had 60fps before I started to use it. Used the normal PSX US bios before.)

On the final version of RetroNX.
(I'm currently running RetroNX and the current Retroarch parallel - its only as difficult as renaming two folders, every time you want to launch one or the other (with the nxshell app))

Before you downgrade, if you really cant get to 60fps with those settings, set the gui driver to rgui, set the video driver to switch (instead of gl). Exit retroarch. Try it again.

Make sure you set the menu driver to rgui - otherwise vide: switch will launch retroarch into a blackscreen (delete config file to solve that).

Also - all those settings were mentioned in here before. I even think right around the time you last asked...

edit: In fights, framerate might drop. If you meant that - *eh*. Still very much playable without the sound becoming too distorted. In the overworld and dungeons, the games runs pretty much at a solid 60fps for me.

Further performance increases probably arent very likely until we get 64 bit dynarec - which might take a while, or never happen.. :)

edit2: You might want to play this game in 16:10 - its assets are actually somewhat made for that... (Similar to when japanese artists used monitor resolutions with different aspect ratios, as on TVs on some other games. I play most PSX games in 3:2, this one in 16:10 - always. (Screenshots taken in 3:2) )

Can u test enter the status screen in pause menu where u see the characters models in 3d. Theres nothing i can do there to get 60fps, so in some parts of the game like just i the begging right on your start village at the bridge with the children swiming.
Or in the start screen after the cg intro where u have to press start

I'm using this primarily for just a few SNES and TG-16 games. The shaders work but I can't seem to get them set to be pixel perfect. I'm used to applying shaders in Retropie and getting perfect images. Can someone point me in the right direction for getting a good, simple shader set up for SNES?... everything I use seems to be a little off kilter, so every 15 scanlines or so I get an extra-thick one - Regardless of whether I'm using integer scaling or running full screen.

Just checking the obvious:
1) Using 1:1 PAR or such for aspect ratio
2) Docked mode @ 1080p is by default upscaled from a 720p render, so that will introduce all kinds of fun things.

Beyond that I wouldn't know.

Are you using an EBOOT or other format? I kinda wanna play chrono cross but it would be awesome to have a single file for each game on my psx folder

Hey dude, just converte with PSX2PSP the images to ".pbp" file format test with some emu o pc and them just try on switch. =)
Note that some games have anti piracy code and may run ok on others emulators like dino crisis, u just have to get some patched games or patch it self to work properly on retroarch.

Using .pbp (EBOOT designation is less descriptive and might confuse people) not that I personally think that that makes any difference.

53 FPS in menu in Chrono Chross, and yes, the sound stutters there.

But then - I've played the game on other ARM platforms before (Below Tegra X1 capabilities, but not by much, and this was always the case with pcsxrearmed. Will try it on a more recent phone platform, give me a few minutes.) So at least thats not Switch specific.
edit: Tested it on a 2 year old phone (32 bit arm) with a current Retrarch (pcsxrearmed) build, and the menu ran at 60 fps, so yes - this is probably something that would be fixed by attaining dynarec.

Also - even m4xw still answering low effort "what is best" questions, is a real kick to the downstairs area. Two of which are on the famous "dont bother - because they certrainly didnt bother" list of the ones getting repeated a dozen of times, every week".

To add insult to injury - part of my answer given was "you didn't even read a thing, did you?" to which the freaking person replied "thanks for your service, but what is best, and in what folder do I...?"

There is no shame (or brains) anymore.

And if you spell that out - then some people want to defame you for it, by calling you names (mostly crazy) for simply refusing to act in a PC fashion, faced with an entire barrage of exploitative behavior. And by grouping together trying to censor your criticism of their behavior patterns.

Let me spell this out for you once more - you are ruining it for everyone. (Because people will get tired of serving you like you be godking or something.)

How desperate do you have to be to "leave no one behind", when you keep repeating this pattern ad nausium? If the same people come up with better questions, attend to them - just, please, refuse to let them become individuals that walk through life asking "whats best" and "in what folder do I..." questions. If they are old enough to take part in HB communities, and pirate the living substance out of their consoles - let them learn, that they have to take on responsibility, when it comes to trying to understand things. And that the developer of something or rather and his five internet buddybuddies will not be there to play individual learning platform - for every single one of them.

Also - the part, where you tell them the answer - but they still want to do something else, because they think that would be fun - quite infuriating. (It would be great, if they come to a solution on their own in a way you have never thought about. They dont.)

And please - if you think that you might do something wrong, that might have actual consequences - come forward and ask your question (maybe apart from "which firmware should I, and should I update, I ask because I like to play new games" (personal decision, now handle it without making a poll) - make it, more to the point, please), no one will be miffed to help you if there is an actual need or potential consequence.

But the consequence of you not trying to read up on the simplest RTFM (whats a manual?! said the milenn...) question, is just you not having read the manual. Thats it. Nothing else of consequence is happening here.

And its not even that we (well I) want to punish you by having to read a thing. We want you to learn to use google (or duckduckgo, or...). Do research. Assess problems on your own - getting to solutions that are already well documented, and actually fact based. If you go through the rest of your life asking your anonymous internet buddies "whats best". Something is seriously wrong.

Like "media literacy" not attained, seriously wrong. With your generation they missed to teach you in school - future generations, will have that on their curriculum (thing the teacher goes by - when he/she reads up on what to teach you).

Its a simple concept. Do something on your own. Or at least try to. If you fail, or get stuck, or are afraid of ruining something - ask. But please dont bother people, because you cant be bothered to even try.

Also - for the 10th time, there is no "best" thing in most cases in life. Its all perspective - and a hefty dose of "self disillusionment" called conformation bias. (= That youtuber telling you "this best product", while holding it in his/her hand smiling into the camera. (If hes telling you the same every week, with different *insert product*. That just serves the function of being a fashion scout. Nothing more.))

Not that there is something to be said against fashion. Well, except that its an entirely made up concept simply invented to drive an industry through overspending (actual economic term, meaning to spend beyond market price), once more, invented by the advertising industry in the late 50s - when they, for the first time told people they should spend to show others their "inner self images" through clothing. Replace that with food selfies, and you've reached 2018. ;) (Sorry, must be acting crazy again, to even mention those things.. ;) )

Next stop, your digital personal assistant will tell you what to do. Dont worry. We have you covered.

Bumping my question; still have not figured it out.

I just encountered something weird and I'm not sure what I did. When I used to use the fast forward option, it'd go uncapped rates of fast, and it'd give me a fast foward message in the corner. However, I do not know what I changed, but the fast forward is at most 2x speed now, and I no longer get a fast forward message. Any ideas?

Do you mind sharing which image you used? I have tried a few, including my own perosnal rip, and none load. They all work fine on a multiple of other platforms.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Nope tried my 2 versions also, been trying all day to get this and MAME working ! lol

No luck here either. Even my original rip fails to load.

I had that on PS1 but gave up as the emulation wasn't really that great. You can fix the sound by increasing the audio latency to around 70.

I can't seem to find the fast forward option. On the Vita I think I had a GBA emulator that sped up when I held right on the right analog and it really came in handy for RPGs.
