Hacking "An exception occurred. ARM9 data abort"

Hello

I booted up my old 3ds with the SD card inserted but I couldn't get into the Home Menu because I awlays got an error. I took out the SD card and reinserted it, I get into the home menu but now it can't read my SD card. Put it back into the computer and it seems to be fine. Everything worked fine 2 days ago, why this now?

EDIT: my extdata folder seems to be corrupted, i let my pc fix it and now i can access the folder, but my 3ds still can't read it. It still says the software management information is corrupted.

Check for fake SD card.

1. Copy everything off.
2. Reformat at FAT32 + 32 KB cluster size. Guiformat.
3. Full Write + Verify Test the empty card. H2testw.
4. If the card passes without error, delete the *.h2w test files.
5. Copy everything back on.

No, uninstalling CFW will make it harder to troubleshoot. Continuing...

6. Remove and reinsert the battery. Try booting the 3DS to HOME Menu without an SD card.

If it goes to HOME Menu without the card.

7A. Try it again with the SD card.

7B. Put the SD back in the 3DS. Turn on the 3DS and hold the (Select) button. If you see Luma3DS configuration, what version is it?

Did you ever used Checkpoint or JKSM save manager, creating backups for all your game saves and extdata?

Depending if you answer yes or no will determine what you'll do for post 3DS recovery.

yes i used checkpoint, but not for all games. Only used it on cartridges

Problembehandlung (Troubleshooting)

For any HOME Menu games you wish to avoiding reinstalling or not losing their saves, you're going to need to retrieve these files found in your [1:] SYSNAND CTRNAND: movable.sed and the *.db files [ certs / import / ticket / title / tmp_i / tmp_t ]

8. In GodMode9, go to that drive, find them, and use the Copy to 0:/gm9/out to your SD card. Verify you have all *.db and *.sed files before moving to the next step. Set these aside safely on your computer along with a copy of your Nintendo 3DS folder.

Made an account just to help whoever sees this, it bugged the heck outta me but I just figured it out. It's very workaround-y. I came to the conclusion that one of the CIA's I installed was corrupted, and the 3DS was crashing whenever it had to interact with the title in some way. (Bravely Default and apparently Majora's Mask)

Here's what I did:
1. Turn your 3DS off, and put your SD card in your computer.
2. Copy everything from your SD card and paste it to another spot on your computer.
3. Here's where your experience might differ: The Windows File System told me that one of the .APP files on my SD card was corrupted, and it couldn't copy it to my computer. I hit the Skip button so it didn't copy that file over to my backup folder on my desktop.
4. Once the backup was complete, I deleted everything off of my SD card. Was gonna format, but GUIformat was throwing me an "already open in another application" error code, so I just deleted everything I could.
5. Paste everything from the backup folder (Shouldn't have your corrupted titles anymore) back onto the root of your SD card. Right click, Eject the SD card from Windows.
6. Put the SD card back into your 3DS and power it on.
7. For me, the corrupted titles still had their icons on my dashboard. However, when I highlighted them, the splash animation that displays on the main screen wasn't there anymore, and it didn't crash when I tried to highlight over them.
8. Go into FBI, and then the "Titles" menu. At the bottom of the list of GREEN-HIGHLIGHTED TITLES will be the game ID's for whatever games were causing the issue.
9. Press A on the title, select Delete Title & Ticket.

That's how I got around it at least. If that isn't the issue, I'd do a clean re-install and check your SD card for errors. Best of luck!
