Hacking Can't install CFW"data corrupted"

I have to reinstall CFW and I installed the Offical update, tried moving this to the UPDATE folder in the PS3 folder: http://www.psx-place.com/threads/ferrox-4-82-v1-01-cobra-7-55-by-alexander.15724/

But when I enter safe mode and try to install it just says the data is corrupted, help? before I was using cobra cfw I think.

on rebug? there's a bug with the recovery menu on that firmware. try update debug to install system software.

I don't know what that is, what do you mean debug? can you link me that version? my PS3 is in a vanilla state again and I already installed OFW it's on 4.82

I recently had my PS4 HDD die on me today and I had to swap a bunch of HDD's out cuz I was trying to fix it.


Any other solutions? help. I reformatted the drive, installed OFW, butit just won't let me install CFW..

I have no idea what you're talking about, I am not very good with these things I just want my CFW back help I had no issues installing it before.

EDIT: gonna just post some additonal information here to be more clear just in case it helps cuz I really want CFW again and I don't know why it isn't working..:



I had to reformat my HDD, it's a long story but I destroyed my HDD in my PS4 so I had to do a lot of HDD swapping and I had to reformat my 500GB, it boots in my PS3 and I was able to install OFW but whenever I try to install CFW I just get an error, I made a thread about it here: https://gbatemp.net/threads/cant-install-cfw-data-corrupted.519666/#post-8312047

I don't know why but it won't accept the CFW file. I can't remember if they're were any other extra steps other than just installing CFW .PUP file. I renamed itto PS3UPDAT.PUP and it was formatted 2GB fat32 stick...and it just isn't installing.

CFW can only be installed on OFW up to 3.55, if you have a later version then you need to use http://www.psx-place.com/threads/ps...ts-all-ps3-fat-models-most-slim-models.16876/ to install CFW.

You would have made it easier on yourself if you had just installed CFW on the new hard drive, rather than OFW.

I already hacked my PS3 before like I said but then I had to swap HDD's for various reasons and I managed to install OFW again but I thought you had to install OFW first before CFW(it's been awhile since I installed CFW) so my issue is it's not installing/working like it did before.

My console is a CECH-2501A

EDIT: I used minverchk and it said update data of version 3.40 or later can be installed on this system.

You have to use ps3exploit like I said. It's a web exploit, which needs a hex file on usb. It takes about thirty seconds.

The only other option is to hard mod it.

Where is the .hex file? do you get it from the exploit site or is it something I have to put on USB? and what slot does the USB stick go? PS3 pup are never bigger than 256mb. It sounds like you found a set of PS4 pups. Links are here, along with a hash so you can check your download

That is if you want to dump your nand/nor and verify it before you start. It's mostly in case something goes wrong and you need to restore, although you will probably have to use a hardware flasher to restore. I can't remember if I did this or not, I probably dove straight in.

First you need to find out what flash type you have, nor/nand. Slims are all nor, fats are a mix of nand/nor, super slims are emmc (but they aren't compatible with CFW).

If you want a backup then on the "Flash Dumper" menu use "Dump IDPS" and then "Dump Flash to USB", then the option for your flash type.

To flash the hex (which allows CFW to be installed) you need to use "Flash writer", "Write Flash From USB", then the option for your flash type.
