Surely this is no different to what companys like apple and microsoft do all the time? Take some of the jailbreak communitys work and feature the good stuff as the latest iOS release? Is it only an issue when TX do something like this??

Personally couldnt care 2 shits about Retroarch or any emulation homebrew. I prefer real hardware with real controllers :)
Well no, Microsoft and Apple typically don't use GPL code. Microsoft have historically been fiercely protective of their source code to the extent that developers having even viewed Microsoft source code are seen as a liability in case they inadvertently utilise anything that they may have seen from the code. Microsoft's whole ethic of code ownership means they aren't likely to utilise external code. As for Apple, their operating system is based on code using the BSD licence which is open source but does not require derivative works to have the same licence.

I don’t think it’s a “bribe” it’s called an “offer” it does happen for exclusivity on there platform and tbh more fool them they should of took it and work together instead of against each other they could of used the money to put back into the project to make it even better. TX users will use it on sx regardless of being exclusive or not and it’s not stopping them from implementing it within the operating system anyway.

They guy got called to stop working on everything opensource. That is a bribe and not an offer. An offer would be different and you wouldn't be forced to stop working on everything else what was already open sourced. Ey i'll give you 6000K to stop working on everything open source ''

Where does it say stop open source? It says to work on there project with TX not stop open source.

That's just not true. I love how everyone becomes an expert when it's time for a debate.
Microsoft extensively uses open source software. Their lawyers, just like any big company, are fiercely protective of when and where each license can be used. They won't use viral licenses (GPL) in software where the source can't be released, but we will use it in places where the viral-ness can be avoided. BSD, MIT, ASL2 are used extensively throughout Microsoft, there's no restriction on using those licenses other than releasing information that you're using them. (Some other licenses like EPL or MPL are verboten because they have patentability implications, despite not needing to release source code.)

That’s fair enough, thank you for the correction.

Libretro who did you think!
Why ? 6000 is a peanut for them. They even said themselves that 6000k is a peanut in this business. And why would they care about that ? If they did then they would have asked money for their projects a long time ago wich they don't. Not everybody is a greedy corporate stealing fuck

At least this thread makes for an easy shill reel.

Fuck Team Xecuter. Props to m4xw and co.

This isn't a matter of "legal vs illegal". This is literally asking them to break the law. There's no "technical" GPL exemption clause saving TX. There is no "it's not a bribe". It's flat out scumbags being dirty. No water muddying.

Everyone is in business to make money that’s why you own a business, it doesn’t matter what field of work your in so you can’t say they are greedy corporate stealing... as if to say they are any different. It’s called competition and I like there spirit!

Not everyone, open source is not a business. It's an open sourced project that they do for fun skills and as a hobby. It is something they like to do plus it looks good on their resume.

Wow.....makes me even more happy I never purchased any of there products.

I agree but remember TX is a business and they are in the game to make money I don’t blame they saw a gab in the market and they took it and why not! If we were all in business to be friends and give everything away and not do the best for our product then there would be no point.

a business is all good and well if you abide by the rules and so forth but what they're doing is a lot worse than most companies do. They're breaking the rules constantly and just now they wanted to break the gpl licensing again once more like they have done so many times before wich shows they're greedy ass fucks that don't care about the community because in their first statement they were like '' we're all about the community !!!!'' and now here they're trying to close off homebrew behind a paywall they provide ! They don't care about the community because they're greedy ass fucks. All they do is steal steal and steal

Why do you even care about GPL when your sig clearly shows you pretty much enjoy piracy on any device you own? Im sure your rantings on here are going to change the world and you and your views are right and anyone who challenges you is wrong. Go out and get some fresh air and enjoy your day :)

Actually no, i already showed a lot of people who said the same thing as you that i own a lot games and that i run CFW and so forth for preservation. CFW and so forth does not have anything to do with piracy but for some it has to do with preservation. I like collecting games and i have a ton on every system. Right now i'm even completing my dreamcast collection. I don't have anything against people who do use CFW for piracy and so forth but i am not one of them
