For the record, I'm the one who contacted the RetroNX developers at the request of Team Xecuter. It was my understanding that they wanted to donate to the project in exchange for a possible support forum on the TX boards to drive more traffic there. They didn't say anything to me about wanting to make the app exclusive to the mod or I never would have agreed to facilitate contact between them, since the Libretro devs and I go way back.

If what you say is true - it's truly amazing how happy they are to throw people under the bus over themselves. You'd get the blame being the messenger, and TX kicks back by pulling down another Git repo and pasting it into their little effort.

I'm never one to tell people what do but if they genuinely did this to you - I'd seriously consider working with or for them again. You're being made a fool of.

Is it breaking the law criminally, or is it civil IP infringement? Anyway I wasn't aware of the licensing issues involved when I posted my first comment - but it still sounds like a (shitty) headhunting offer more than a bribe.
It can be seen as both. It's a violation of their license and can result in a lawsuit. As well the act of accepting a bribe is a criminal offense. This by all definition was an act of bribery and would be handled as one if it was accepted and charges were filed.

And this moron choose the community over self-gain right? We need more morons like him. Kudos to the m4xw for refusing this and sharing the story. In this case, Its an honor to be called a moron, because assuming that "you can read", the first post says this is "A violation of LibRetro's license and illegal". So better be a moron than sued for illegal activity right?

Lol this community? Half the people here bitch and never satisfied. I would never give away my set of skills for free. Why put in time for something to give for free? For a thank you? Thank you doesn't pay. Similar to the IOS exploiters, they can exploit the IOS and make a exploit and give it to someone to jailbreak and get a thank you. What do they do? Turn it into apple for cash.Libretro would not sue for any illegal activity. The amount money to go to court for people who do something for free. Come on man, most you'll get is a thread blowing up.

I'm still waiting for the evidence of said bribe instead of just hearsay.

For your portfolio? You know portfolio can be useful to get jobs in the industry or getting acquaintance with someone in the education right? Also maybe flexing or training or challenging their programming skills? Not everyone wants a thank you lol. He can also say he is doing this for those who appreciate it. Well anyway, it's rare to have a not self-centered person like this guy (actually we have a lot here in GBAtemp and most of hacking community).

It is quite a wholesome news to be honest (outside of TX trying to pay (bribe) lol).

I wasn't thrown under the bus. I volunteered the information publicly because I don't want the Libretro dev(s) thinking I set up a "deal" between TX and RetroNX that isn't what I tried to set up. All I did was make the initial contact and tell them who to email at TX. After that who knows what happened. I'm sure we'll find out soon enough.

As a game modder who has released GTA 5 mods for free (most notably with 40k+ unique downloads per update ish)- yes, I do it for a thank you. Do people bitch and moan? Yes, but I do the adult thing and either ignore it or work with them to sort it out. Does it pay? Well, no but that's what a job is for. I do this for fun and I've met a few really good contacts over the years modding for free. Not something I would have made had I put up a pay wall in front of it. I imagine the LibRetro devs are the same.

It's one thing to say you won't do it for free, but it's another to actually act on it.

You underestimate how many people would happily fund a GoFundMe or whatever to sue TX...

TX gave a bunch of money to our own Homebrew Bounty program. But haters do what they do.

Are you posting under influence? I feel like I need a breathalyzer.

They're not wanting to "support" the Homebrew scene - they're wanting to sell SX OS as they've run out of benefits SX had/has over other, free CFWs. The only thing left SX has is XCI loading, but I heard from Rei that's pretty close, and with installable XCIs (well, it converts them to NSPs for you) - that's filled the gap for many.

Hell - even their dongle is £8 on AliExpress! Why buy anything from TX when there's no benefit over cheaper (or even free) alternatives? That's when the "lets make this a selling point!" comes into play but the way they've approached it is as half assed as their copy-pasting skills.

Is this like a last resort for them or something? If the recruitment process to work for the team actually worked, I doubt there would be a free version for the ones that still won't purchase their equipment.

All i was trying to do was give a lead in to me saying is take tx's money.

I don't get why that guy didn't just say yes grab the cash and then screw them. It's like people don't know how to be gangster on the internet especially with this console having stuff. If you could get real deal gangsters into this wed have a way cooler scene. Picture al capone but with PlayStations
