You can dump the NAND in in either FAT32 or exFAT. If you use FAT32, you will end up dumping the NAND in parts. And if you want as clean a NAND as possible, dump it with Hekate instead of the toolkit since Hekate is loaded before the NAND making the NAND as clean as possible.
Darth Meteos' Stash has been discontinued indefinitely. If you intend to continue using ReiNX, I would highly suggest following the official guide at reinx.guide
Yes, it works on firmware 5.1
Yes that should work just fine

I don't really follow dongles/modchips but there are other alternatives such as the SX Gear, NS-Atmosphere, and the upcoming Dragon injector.
Sorry maybe I did not put my question correctly. If I format to exfat on windows PC and use to take backup will that work? Or do I need to get the switch to recognise exfat (by updating fw) before I can take a backup?

If you use Hekate to backup the NAND, you can use exFAT irregardless if your console supports it or not because Hekate is loaded outside of Horizon. If you use the ReiNX toolkit to backup the NAND, you need exFAT support in your console to dump it using an exFAT formatted SD card because the toolkit is loaded in Horizon.

Amazing thanks for the instant reply.

Should I update from 4.1.0 or stay there? Obviously when I mean update I'll do it without burning fuses.

The best firmware for CFW is currently 5.1 as no game requires 6.0 and everything can be installed/ran on firmware 5.1. You do not have to update but if you run into a game that needs a higher firmware, then you will need to update.

You should add the files back to the SD card before re-inserting it.
Formatting worked, now the only issue I have is DBFZ wanting me to update to 6.0? I found a .NSP update for the game and will be applying that now, but overall everything is back to normal. :D

These are the steps that I'm going to do now:

1. Format sd card to exfat and take full nand backup using Hekate and back up keys too
2. Follow ReiNX guide to complete installation which includes update to FW 5.1 with auto RCM
3. Use zerotwoxci to load xci files to play

Is this all correct?

Also one last question. I have not created Nintendo account. Connected to internet once to update the joycons. I read that the console can still connect to internet even if in flight mode. Is there some additional step I need to do to prevent this to start using ReiNX?

To use zerotwoxci, you need to obtain a prod.keys which a file full of copyrighted keys. While you can use kezplez to obtain the keys, I think it would be much easier to download all of your games in .NSP format and install them with Tinfoil.

And to prevent your console from going online, delete the Wi-Fi settings or setup a custom DNS server such as 90DNS in your current Wi-Fi settings.

Is there a way to remove .xci games that were installed with ZeroTwoXCI?
Try deleting them via Software Management

AFAIK Hekate is the only way to properly shutdown with AutoRCM.

SX Os as a power off option in its menu that truly powers off the switch like Hekate.

The latest releases of Hekate (4.1 and 4.2) have an option called Auto Power Off, which turns off completly the switch (after sending again the payload), if you turn off your switch off under HOS (is saves then the step to enter Hekate’s menu and some extras taps to power off).

So what i read about reinx is that it doesn't support a fresh switch, so i need to update it to 6.0.0?

What benefits am i loosing by doing this and is there a work around to update it to a different version than 6.0.0?

Not sure we’re to ask but..I’ve got a second switch on version 3.0.0 all I’ve done to it is do hbl. No “cfw” or anything like that. Just the old fashioned way to get hbl. I bought a jig and I’ve received already. [I wanna use this method ](https://reinx.guide/firsttime) to get cfw and be able to do other things on my switch...is it safe to use it? Or should I wait? Update?

Also what is a dongle for? I’ve seen it been mentioned a lot, just a bit lost on what it is for.

Thank you!

Whatever you read was incorrect; ReiNX supports all unpatched Switch units because it relies on a hardware exploit not a software one. The best firmware for CFW is currently 5.1 however lower firmwares work just as well. There are currently hacks that do not work on firmware 6.0 such as DevMenu and custom themes so unless you plan on playing online, there is absolutely no reason to update to firmware 6.0. If you wish to update to a different firmware that is not 6.0, you can use the homebrew application ChoiDujourNX.

Define "safe". If you mean from a bricking perspective, it is safe. If you mean from a banning perspective, all CFW carry a risk of getting banned. Not sure what you mean by "wait" since the exploit we have currently works on all unpatched Switch units like the one you have currently and there are no signs of a new exploit coming out anytime soon.

A dongle is used to send payloads in place of a computer or phone because to load any type of CFW, you must send a payload via USB connection. Dongles make it easier to load CFW on the go.

You don’t need to updtae to 6.0 , and actually won’t recommend it as, for the moment, CFW are more stable in FW 5.1
To do so, (update to 5.1) , you can use https://gbatemp.net/threads/choidujournx-a-system-firmware-installer-homebrew-for-the-nintendo-switch.513416/ , as the only way is to do it offline.

If you don’t mind burning fuses, you are not obliged to keep AutoRCM enabled, but note then, that you won’t be able to downgrade below 5.1 (i.e whatever your initial firmware is).

Before doing anything, you should read carefully and follow this guide :
https://gbatemp.net/threads/backup-...-your-biskeys-tseckeys-keys-txt-guide.513386/

I think my question is related to the ones asked in the past few pages or so, but not understanding enough info to make a decision.

I haven't used my switch in a while and am on 5.1.0 and have been using SXOS since it came out.

1) Should I update to 6.0?
2) Should I switch to a different CFW or is SXOS still the "best" not considering alternatives are free?
3) If I do not want to take my switch online is it possible to update the FW?
